Curious if anyone is working for these guys in Texas? Thinking about re-locating. Wondering about downtime due to weather in texas also

I don't know what line of work you are looking for, pneumatic or end dump, but I have been in rock hauling for about 29 years and I have seen this company over and over come in and under bid job after job to the level where a owner operator can't make any money. As far as weather, weather is weather. I live in central Texas and have worked in DFW area and all over central Texas and the weather has not ever kept me from making a decent living.

Thank you for the info. I was thinking about taking my end dump to Texas because the rate cutters have completely destroyed the business here in California. I see Sunset putting craiglist ads in everyday here had me wondering

Sunset Logistics are still advertising like crazy here in CA looking for O/O's.
I too was considering heading to the Midwest but rates seem to be as bad or worse down there.
Having said that the cost to operate and run a company in TX would be half or less that it is in CA, specifically San Francisco.
The only good thing I see to ease the burden of our geographic disadvantage is the CARB regs, anyone who has survived the last five years in the Bay Area and at the same time were serious enough about their business to invest/renew their equipment to become CARB compliant should be in a pretty good position now to reep the rewards!
I am already seeing a much higher margin with flatbed rates hauling in and out of state but the construction flatbed and end dump work is worse than ever!
I blame it on a lot of truckers who are not here in a long term business capacity and working really cheap to pile up as much cash as possible before they are put off the road as they are not going to renew their equipment to stay in this business.

That lightweight aluminum end dump that you want would work great in texas
