800k ain't nothing if you take care of it. Oil,grease,tuneup, and so on

But more then less the older truck will out run any newer truck u can buy brand new 2015 right now and i dont think itll ever make you as much money as your old no downtime truck has. I'd rather lose all my fairings rather then a def/dpf issue

 

a proper rebuild should last you another 800k atleast. I prefer to do a one time payment of 20-25 grand and not have to worry about it for another 700k than pay 25k for 4 years along with higher maintenance. The older truck will last longer. If a rebuild is not needed now, don't do it. Wait till it is. Also, a transmission is not that expensive to replace as are rear ends. For around 40k you will have a truck that can do another million on it for a fraction of a new one. That is my plan if I keep running flats. Keep my truck and rebuild/replace parts. It will be cheaper and I will have no payments. Btw what are you replacing each weekend.

 

Bottom line, pick your poison, I'm running a 2007 and in and out of the shop so much. I do not want to mess with def and all that crap. but.... rest assured I could of made a new truck payment and had money left over the past two years so like I said, pick your poison. It's a crap shoot!!!! BTW, I found an awesome shop in Charleston WV, Heritage International, they have been a God's sent! If you ever need any work done, please don't hesitate to go see Bruce, Frank, or John the service manager! I cannot say enough about this shop!! I went in there with a tapping noise in my engine, it was a injector cam; had exhaust cam replaced five months ago; they noticed on my bill that the shop did not do any preventative damage and helped me get workmanship failure warranty from them. What a god's sent!! They didn't have to say anything to me!!! So grateful they were my advocates and went to "BAT" for me with insurance company!!! KUDOS to Heritage International!!!!

 

If I was to buy new I would get a glider. I get a new truck with all the new truck perks, minus the unreliable engine. That and they are cheaper.
