2" straps are 16.00 each. If you want one or more, you pay for it, nothing is free. If you leave, take it with you, it's yours. You are not required to purchase them if you do not want them.

Ok this day and time in the trucking business the DM is nothing more than a phone person that is the contact with the driver. All the big companies have the same. Dispatch is done with a computer and a groop on geeks back in the cold dark room with in the main office. They have no contact with the driver at all. The driver is just a truck number and if they don't like your number you are starved out! If you don't play by their rules you are starved out! All these big companies are the same. --Boyd I remember back to the days of the 70s they probably had problems of not so nice of driver back then. This deposit thing is probably held over from that time.

Who else requires that drivers buy equipment?
-
i cant think of the company names right off hand but have seen several times of people saying about having to buy equipment from the company when they started. I'm not saying it's right but I know it was a good thing for us since they are the first company my bf has driven for. When/if he leaves them, he'll already have the equipment he needs elsewhere. I'm not even saying that Boyd is the best company but for us they have been great. Whenever my bf has had an issue he always has different routes he can go through to get them resolved. He's been out for several weeks but that is by his choice since he's trying to make up money lost from bad weather and truck issues. As for the OPs issue with his dispatcher, I find that hard to believe since there are many numbers available to get the situation remedied.

Schneider issues a kingpin lock and then deducts the cost out of your first check. Does that count?
-
No. If you work for a good company, all PPE would be provided for you. You should also have a boot allowance if they are required.
-
We have a boot allowance here. I have never worked for a company that gave us ppe and I'll bet you haven't either.

I have a $1000 escrow account with the people I'm leased to now but there's the key "leased to". As an O/O that's standard. As a company driver it is NOT. If they require an escrow of company drivers, do not walk away, RUN. As a flatbedder, there are certain things you have to buy yourself like bungees, or straps/tarps that get damaged due to your failure to properly pad and you should expect to pay to replace lost items, but anything beyond that is not your responsibility.

My company gave us a hardhat, safety glasses and a safety vest the first day of orientation.RERM Thanks this.

Prime requires the driver to buy all flatbedding equipment and snow chain's (about $2,000) bucks
