If you only manage to cut one line, the truck will still build air pressure, and will still move! I know, because I have DONE IT! Trust me, the pressure doesn't last well, but it will build to a "safe" level, then fade to nothingness, very FAST!

Well oil is back up to over $105.00..........there is no reason for this other than the oil companies greed. They say that they are pumping it out as fast as they can but even though they are making over $40 billion ( Exxon ) in profits there have been no new refiners built in the U.S. in the last 30 years and more refiners would help ease this, they know this but do they care....hell no! Just watched a news report on CBS about this subject and the only thing they did was tell us what problems we as Americans are facing, how the truckers are struggling to make it and that produce is up in the stores but talked to no one to ask how do we fix it. WE ALREADY KNOW WE CANT PAY OR BILLS!!!!

I recently got the march 15-31 issue of the truckers news and after reading the articles pertaining to the high cost of fuel and also the people that were being affected by it.......it really made me so angry that i got sick to my stomach! Big oil is running this country into the ground not to mention all of the hard working truckers out there that they are putting into the poor house and yet the government is not willing to do anything about it. I really haven't heard any of the politicians talking about it because they dont care. They are more worried about Obama's preacher or if Clinton told the truth or not and i for one dont care! As far as that goes of the 3 people that are running for office now...not a one of them care about anything more than power! They could give a rats #$% about the little people that put there nose to the grind every day to make this country run. I have even heard CNN, Fox news and a few others making mention of a strike but still they ( the government ) turn away from us. These people who have been elected by us...to lead us....to protect us and to build this country into all can can be have turned there backs on us. These people need to be thought a lesson!

None of the economic problems started until hurricane katrina and then the gas and diesel went threw the roof over night. It was not long after that everything else went up and now you have people sitting there with a straight face wanting to know why people like you and me cant pay our bills? Can anyone really be that #### stupid!!!! The hurricane was just the thing that big oil had been waiting on, an excuse to stick it to us and they used it then as they are now.

I really dont know at this point what to say about a truckers strike other than this.....

If this is not enough to make all of you, company and O/O's alike stand together on April 1st then nothing will!:biggrin_25513:

The real answer is to have a truck slowdown. Everyone run 50 MPM for two weeks. Even guys who don't want to be part of it will be forced to slow down because of the traffic. Two weeks of loads delivering late and cars stuck in traffic jams will catch the attention of both the press and the government. Company drivers can participate and blame the delays on the truck slowdown. We need congress to mandate a minimum frieght rate and to create a fuel surcharge program that must be clearly shown on all paperwork and must under penality of law be paid or company paying for the fuel. This surcharge needs to be based on practical miles for the load, not a percentage of frieght bill.

Violence and vandalism is only against US. There are reasons people need to continue to truck. It serves no value retaliating against your brother driver.

    Think before you act.

I will agree that a truck slowdown will also get attention. If you have a load or have to take one, a slowdown will get attention by snarling up traffic, maybe cause some accidents from some who wish to challenge the forces of gravity with idiotic maneuvers. But in the end it may bite you the trucker. If you are late with freight no matter if it is unavoidable or deliberate, you may find out you will get paid the same way. Or maybe you will end up having your insurance having to pay for the load if it was time sensitive and you failed to meet the terms. If you are in the position that you can not support the shut down or slow down because you are afraid of loosing your job or your truck or home or what ever. You need to make the right decision for your self. Maybe I am lucky. My wife is complaining about us not working because of the rates that I have set and for the last couple of days we have hauled nothing compared to what we normally do. It took some time for her to understand why I am refusing work now. I am not going to move freight for anyone when just the cost of fuel is now over 30% of the load. This is my choice, and I will sit. I can be adding more stainless to my so called lawn ornaments. I think sooner or later you will see if we start making major progress, the government start implementing all the real scabs of the trucking industry. THE SUBSIDIZED DIVISION and you know who they are and they are probably the same ones to say this will never work. But they will also work for nothing like they have been and complain like they have that they have nothing. Like I said, I am lucky. I own my home, cars, trucks in fact everything here. I still have to pay utilities and taxes. I am no better than anyone out here on gods green earth, I still have to pull my pants down to go to the bathroom just like anyone else. I think its time for us to unite and stand firm since our government can't or so chooses.

:biggrin_25512: this is a hard choice to make but ........ the truck will be parked for three days starting on april 1st. we just can't afford $1300.00 a week for fuel. there is no reason for fuel to be $3.98 a gallon. when diesel is a by product of gas. maybe if trucks stop rooling for a few days, and stores run out of items on their shelves. the everyday person will realize what is going on. I had a chat with someone else about this, and he said alot of food is transported by train, I ask him when was the last time a train pulled up to his local grocery store? As a country we need to stand together on this issue. Call in sick, take vacation days, or what ever it takes . I pray for all of us that price of fuel goes down soon

Other way around.... Gasoline is a byproduct.
But yes you´re right...4 Dollars on whatever fuel is just outrageous.
