Welcome to the Bay & Bay family! I've been here going on 6 years now....on the bulk side though. I'm from Troy NY, but living in Minneapolis/St Paul now! I don't know too many people over on the dry freight/reefer side, so I'd be curious to hear all your adventures across the country! Man....myself, conquest and now K100E...all at Bay&Bay, all from New York...must be something in the water. haha

Hello all. I am still here in the daily grind struggle. 25 months and counting. These new restart rules 1 AM to 5 AM this kind of hurting me, but maybe not so much. My 1099 this year from the company was $223,000. Yes that is solo and yes that is total gross. i have put the bay and bay stickers on my door and have a plaque covering up the bay & bay stickers until March 1 the official start of us using their DOT number. 75% of the time I passed by the house both directions and therefore don't need to request time off. Think we lost a couple of those New York City loads so I now own mainly go upstate New York usually on I 86 Binghamton and then over to Albany sometimes got a couple Massachusetts and Maine in there.

I was thinking of looking into them. What would be starting wage for a driver with 1 yr of experience? And do they pay off the hub? What do they pay lease op drivers?
-
Wow!!! $223K for a solo driver!!! how many miles was that? How many days on the road ???\365? Great job!!!! TY

D&T pays 70 percent of the load. But we pay everything except lumpers and reefer fuel. Bay & bay pays $.92 a mile east coast plus $.44 fuel fsc. They, however, from what I understand pay empty dispatched miles and tolls. Couldn't tell ya company drivers pay. They told me and I guess it wasn't impressive on the dry vans. Hometownhauler I am actually gonna be in eau Claire for youth hockey this weekend.

165000 miles. A bay and bay driver had me beat on miles by 12000. Probably by dispatchers computer probably showing I worked 340 days. But like I said I take loads home so I am technically working but home. Probably worked like 290 days. I am impressed with my 1099 but don't forget reefer loads pay higher than dry and sometimes I had to burn up fuel to make a delivery. Probably looking at the same old $45000 average take home driver pay after everything. Oh and I opted for a brand new truck last year which is 634 week (2750 a month) and that eats up my bottom line but hey I'm confortable and have touched maintenance. That up to 6 grand

Looks like I'm leaving soon. Good company, better than most. It is however still a business out to maximize profits. Money has been going down slightly and I am getting tired of all the finnegaling I have to do to be profitable. Also need something more physical to get circulation going. I had done household goods in the past but that was way too much for $1300. I was making $1500 a week as a manager of a HHG warehouse, but that deal is long gone. Gonna try my hand at car hauling. Was offered a job for 26 percent. Dude is promising $2000-2200 average 6 to 7 days. One week on, one week off. I convinced him two weeks on two weeks off. Wish me luck

Good luck on your new adventure... let us know how it works out!

$223000 divided by 165000 equals $1.35/mile. And, if 165000 miles are computer miles and not odometer miles, the per mile rate will most likely be worse. I am just making an observation. This seems to be the average rate / mile for companies paying by the mile.
