Yeah, Jake is a good guy & his phone constantly rings. Have never talked to him more than 5 minutes w/o hearing the other line going off.
Dave at World Wide in Chicago seems to be pretty decent too. But not thinking Cottrell trains their dealers on all the new stuff they bring out. So they get left out & only learn when a customer orders it & that is if it gets delivered in their yard to go over it.
Have seen elsewhere the the Pete Store is pretty good with stingers, they would order high mounts, but their main line is stingers.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
It can still be ordered, but no pictures under google images. http://www.natats.com/cottrell-c-5307.html
They definitely NEED to do a better job at getting info out of the shop down there... -
If you find a trailer that you like or want to have built get the vin number from it or the job number off of it and pass it on to Cottrell and ask them if they can build you another just like it. The keep all the records of job numbers and vins on hand.

I actually have the blueprint drawing of the c-5307

From what I could gather was like you mentioned with removing a deck over the fifth wheel & the cars in the belly were loaded bumper to bumper without being able to move them as much like on the full 5309?
Would be cool to see one in person though if anyone ever gets their hands on one.
As far as me buying a trailer this week, I failed. Tried to hedge the Wally Mo price a little & that did not work. Which is fine. So down to a Cottrell 5307XL or Miller Titan Long neck Monday morning. Prices are a wash, it is just down to components, warranty & that sort of thing. Do not think there is a silver bullet in any of them, they all seem to lack something or another, well better said as there are trade offs with either brand. -
I had a miller at one time. I would recomend the short neck and move your 5th wheel back. Your gonna wish you had the extra room in the belly.
-
We have had both the long and short neck Miller, I prefer the short neck Miller the belly has more horizontal clearance however you loose about 2 1/2 inches of vertical clearance but it is not that much of a problem I still can put most full size suv's in the belly of the short neck. I will say we have not been impressed with the Miller build quality, they do not hold up as well as our friends with Cotrell but they do hold up better than Kaufman or Wally-Mo.

This has been a super long thread in both posts & time frame. But yeah, that long neck is exactly what I had. Think the year matched yours as well. Really easy to turn one into a 5 car with three truck/suv on top. But the short neck is not 48 state legal & am curious if anyone has ever ran into any issues with one? King pin to center of rear axle on a short neck is 41'6 or just under & currently is a few grand more due to it being a 2014 vs a left over 2013 long neck. Can always kick the bulkhead out on a long neck 8-12" worst case.(see post #35)
Thinking you mentioned earlier in the thread your old ones were holding up pretty well? BUT do know if they are older than a 2004 they were a little different design. Miller redesigned some key areas on the frame work as well as came up with new decks. I know the old design, the tail was dragging on most any incline & the lower deck rails would crack where they welded into the box around the tandems. That is completely alleviated on the new(er) ones. At least I never had an issue with it on the 2007 like I did with my original 2000. Heck was told the original trailers rolling out of paint to dealers had issues where some of the paint on a few blew off before it ever made it to their yard. Again, the paint system & more importantly paint prep(among all of the mfg's) has improved. Miller now has some of the best looking paint from the get go. So 2003 & older are what I am guessing you are describing? 2004-newer not so much of an issue.
Something that makes me curious between the brands. *Think* both Cottrell & Wally Mo hydraulic recommendations for a PTO are at 6 gallon per minute at 1850 psi. Am set up for Miller at 11 gpm & closer to 2500 psi. Would have to change the gearing down to switch brands, but curiously wonder if there are any differences to what one will lift?
For what it is worth, much appreciate all the responses in this thread. With being a single o/o you do not get to learn details like you would working within a large company with vast purchasing power in terms of trying new things & knowing what works...& what does not. -
Brad, do you run "just" a PTO? or are you also running a self contained backup?
