Hard to say.. I know in Texas if you are here more than 30days you are suppose to transfer dl.... and they normally don't play around with it... but it is also hard to prove how long you have been here without you telling them.DodgeFarmBoy, mje and flash1994 Thank this.

If you establish a new residence in another state, then yes. Under Federal law, you then have 30 days to apply for a new CDL in that state per §383.71(c)

Yep residency is the big question. If you maintain residency in your present state and plan on going back then no you don't have to change. You are nothing but a traveling worker like many in the construction industry. But if you dig up your roots and establish a place up there then yes you have to transfer with in 30 days. If I lived in a bunk house up there with a bunch of others or stayed in a motel or camper I would consider that temporary. Taking a lease out on an apartment is permanent.

the state of Texas says you have 25 days to transfer your license. they require ss card birth certificate and your current cdl. they also require 2 forms of proof of residence and proof of insurance.
DodgeFarmBoy Thanks this.
