Prime Specific Upgrade Question

    Prior post on this topic was moved out of the Prime forum so ill try it again, since Primes lightweights are specd specifically for Prime (gear ratios) and Prime is the largest fleet using lightweights, I have a question about the pros and cons of Primes cascadia and prostar light weights.
    I know I get what's available but say I have the choice between the two. Which is more reliable, more fuel efficient, comfortable, etc... Any comments about these two trucks would help me a lot. I have heard that the maxxforce engine is a nightmare but the new prostars are all cummins I believe?
    I have spent all my time in tnt in a cascadia and like the ride but have heard the light weight version falls short on comfort and space compared to the prostar.
    Ive read many forums about the two but am looking to hear more recent comments about them from drivers.

    The Prostar has more storage space compared to the Cascadia. I've only driven the condo style of Cascadias so I can't speak about difference in handling. As to fuel economy, I got 8.5 while grossing 77,000 without really trying. I haven't had any major problems with the engine aside from a clogged fuel filter. Overall, I'm happy that I chose the Prostar.

    Navistar stopped producing MaxxFarce engines last year... they were a total disaster for the company, and have moved to working on an SCR version that uses DEF fluid. That engine wasn't ready last year, so International turned to Cummins for their engines- and that is what should be rolling into Prime these days. REAL easy to figure it out... look under the hood: if the block is red, it's a Cummins. That should be mucho more trouble free than a MaxxFarce disaster.

    Sorry... my company days were before baby trucks, when we still could run down the road at 65.
