Well, my set up must be decent, I was able to talk to two people today when testing it out, one was about 22 miles away and the other was about 20 miles away. My truck was East to West while I was backed into the dock at the company while loading up (with a 25 ft metal building directly behind me) the man that was 22 miles away was North of me on the drivers side and the other guy was South of me on the passenger side of the truck.

Yeah after today I think I have this as good as it's going to get, I'm satisfied with it.

I doubt you could really tell the difference in day to day use. Sounds like you got if figured out. I'd leave it alone if it was me.

The last thing I want is a really good CB antenna. I don't want to listen to the guys 150 miles away, or the Megawatt Morons from Missouri. All I want is to know what's going on a few miles ahead.

A good antenna will also help the other guy hear you.
As for the MMfM, adjusting the RF Gain control (if your rig has it) will help with that. Or wait a couple of years until solar activity drops. (Blame it on "global warming"; it's caused by the same thing... The sun.)Big_m Thanks this. -
That should be the FIRST thing you want. The antenna is what makes or breaks the radio.

no... put your wilson 2000 back on. run your own coax, find out the vf factor/volicty factor for your coax it should be some where between .66 and .86 . mutiply that # by 18 and trim down your coax to that length.. (exampel) mine is .82 vf X 18 = 14'-9" ... I cut the coax down to 14'-9" and put my wilson 2000 back on w/no ajustment and have a 0.5 swr.... you can find the vf for your coax by googeling it by mfg and type. But if its high quality it should be around .82 - .86 .. Just remember your vf X 18 will give you your exact length for your coax. dont buy into that 18 foot bs. trim it and your radio will rock..
