I agree, I've never heard of them being illegal in fact when I called the KY transportation cabinet to see if they recognized 3 axles spread (3-9's or 3-10's) they said um....yea whatever. Only because on all their diagrams they show axles as closed groups.

I see a lot of RGN's with lifts on the rear and they seem worthless. The tires are always hitting the road and end up being shaped like a stop sign. lol

I pull a 48ft Doonan tri axle SD with a 40 ft bottom deck and container locks. Also the axle lift. I use to lift the center axle and run as a spread axle but, I was buying tires every other month. Now I pull it around load or empty with all axles on the ground. I had to have my 5th wheel moved to position between my drives. when empty I am about 10,800 lbs on my steers. Then, I have loaded 60,000 lbs and be 10,000 on my steers. But my steers last a lot long now.
I am looking to buy another tractor to pull my trailer around. I can load up to 70,000 lbs gross on the trailer, 70,000 lbs in a 10 ft of space. What tractor specs will I need to get the most out of the trailer?
