I agree that making money is important... but, I feel that many go about it the wrong way.. especially us new drivers... we come from a different generation and believe we should get paid as much in our first month as someone in there 100th month...
There are always drivers complaining about not making money.. they blame everyone but themselves... they expect more from everyone else except them selves...
My point is.. I know I am getting better and more efficient each week I am out.. it takes time to be a good driver, because there is more to being a good driver than driving... for example last week when I35 was bad and closed down for a bit in the morning.... I knew it was bad because I checked.. so, I waited a couple hours before heading out, before starting my 14 hour clock.. the roads were better and I made good time.. another driver, didnt know I35 had closed, headed out, starting his 14 hour clock, only to have it tic away at a rest area down the road... he did get there 39 minutes before me... but I had 2 1/2 more hours on my 14 hour so, dispatch gave me the longer load because I had the time to run it wherw he was short an hour...
Did he ever complain and cry about me getting a good load and him getting a crap one.. but the reason was not the companies fault or a bad dispatcher... it was his own for not planning his day better... no it was not his fault I35 closed.. it was his fault for not knowing it was closed and having his 14 tick away..
We are both new drivers.. he has 6 months on me... but, still a lot to learn -

"Millis Home Time Policy shall read that a driver who accumulates 7 days out without a 36 hr at home period will receive a minimum of 36 hours of uninterrupted home time. A driver who accumulates 14 days out without a 36 hr home period will receive a minimum of 72 hrs of uninterrupted home time. A driver who accumulates 21 days or more out without a 36 hr home period will receive a minimum of 108 hrs or 4 ½ days of uninterrupted home time. Home time accumulations are not allowed to be added to paid vacation times.A driver request for home time will be processed as follows:
Upon dispatch of any load after completion of a home time period, the driver will be allowed to request a home time into the future, not to be less than 7 days from the date of the home time request. Your dispatch manager is at that time obligated to return the driver to his/her home location for a period of not less than 36 hrs. to fulfill the home time request.Any driver who fails to be allowed the mandated home time earned will be paid at the rate of an additional $.05 per mile for all miles accumulated for days past the home time deadline date." -

If this really concerns you, apply to enter post-secondary school, and become a doctor or a lawyer. Otherwise suck it up and get with being a driver. You're not going to be at the top of the wage scale as a new entrant in any industry.
Look at the bright side... truck drivers don't often get the opportunity to deep-fry themselves in a mishap making french fries.mje Thanks this.
