I'm assuming, since it was a rim; it should be considered an incident. Then again, I've not gone over the wording on that in a while. I've not had to worry about it for some time now- so it doesn't really grab my attention. Someone else should be better able to explain that. But it probably should've been an incident.

Hold off on the OO/IO/LO for a while and get a good few years of experience.
I want to go OO myself, but know for a fact I just don't have the know-how to do it right now. It's not for lack of trying, or effort or intelligence. These things take time, and the longer I wait in terms of the next half decade, the better off I'll be. Eventually, though, I will have to jump into that pool myself.

PS- Stop reporting yourself to your mega carrier.

Best advise I can give in my limited experience- keep the ship on course. If you're working hard, gathering experience and hoarding money; you cannot go wrong for now.

@cabwrecker Thanks for your reply! You're probably right about gathering more experience and money. I'll probably go at least another year before making the plunge. But if I want to be ready I have to start right now. That's why I'm asking all the questions :) I wish you the best of luck in your endevours.

I figured since most companies are fine and understanding? About having one preventable, it was better to report it than pay the $1500 to fix it myself. I just didn't have that kind of cash at the time. The rim was bent and the tire was deflated. I couldn't roll with it, there were no other options.

Yes definately agree many post on this and with deeper issues. Driver let those be learning tools in your kit of driver responsibility. The sidewalk curb could have had human life on it when you lost it. Curb violation was minor compared to what you could have been cited for.Others gave very good advice on pre trip which sadly should have been taught or heeded to by your company. Left lane had sinage. All up to you. Respect and common sense will get you farther than anything. See you in right lane and off the sidewalks ;)

Damaged trailer rim ... OOS left lane violation ... didn't know where registration for trailer was, 'cause you were new ... don't you have something MAJOR to tell us ... or am I wasting my time looking for some monsterous misdeed on your part. Of course you are hirable ... I've seen a lot worse form so-called veteran drivers ... and I'm sure everybody else has too!
