We want to help ... we really, really do. Starting this thread to give a place where our Central brethren can come and get some support.

We can't tell you why Swift does some of the stuff it does, but we can tell you how we work the system, how we use the MACs and how we interpret the polices.

AWESOME!! I'll post a link to this thread in the Central Truck Stop III...

Right now now the fun we are having is getting reimbursed for load locks on a regular basis... Our loop has 2 dropped trailers per week; both using load locks. So that's 4/week we purchase (unless the trailer we pick up already has them in it; but that's rare). Payroll says there has to be an F2 note, or the requirement be in the customer notes... I think we got last weeks covered, now to see if it happens again.

Going to start with this from another thread. Steve has already provided and answer, But I'll expound.

Swift provide 3 ways to get loads. First the traditional dispatch, via a next load assignment. You can accept or reject the load via MAC 9. Company drivers are supposed to refuse a load for HOS or home time request. When rejecting for HOS, they should put in when they can do the load. O/O can refuse a load for any reason via MAC 9.

MAC 30 is a load request. It is available to all O/Os and to company drivers that are - I believe - rated gold or higher. 18 hours prior to your PTA you can request loads. You will be offered up to 3 loads to chose from and have 15 minute to decide. Or you can elect not to take any of the loads. If you chose a load it does not mean that you will get it. It may also have been offered to other trucks, first one to accept an offer is supposed to get it. If you do not take a load or you don't get it you may do MAC 30 again an hour after the last one. MAC 30 applies to OTR only, dedicated get their dispatches via their dedicated DM/planner.

The broker program is an O/O only program. This is technically still a pilot program and is not available to all O/Os. Swift has partnered with a broker and O/Os can call directly to the broker to request available loads where they are or are going to be. The O/O can do this at any time and can stack loads if the broker has the freight. Rate is negotiated between the driver and broker and is the driver's rate, Swift takes their cut on the front end from the broker. The rumor is the broker is working on a reefer program for the Central drivers - this is rumor, take it at that. Again this for OTR only, no dedicated.

I just found out the required PO for load locks/straps has to be the correct category number as well. I told my dl who was baffled by that but promised to find out what he was doing wrong. I just scanned a receipt for straps for the last load and will let you know what happens.

    Load locks and dropped trailers,
Try to keep the ones you have?!

I will ask the final to if I/they can get them out and then reseal.
    The answer is rarely no.
And if no, check with the docks, must be a bunch of em stashed there.
    But that's dry van...
Buying new ones all the time is.... expensive.

Where we drop it is after hours, so no one there to ask... We would need to break the seal, and leave it un sealed... Not sure they would go for that :/

Yes, as far as load locks, it has to be in the notes that they are required. Now we have some customers that require them, and they are not in the notes. Find out when you get there.

Thought that I would expound a little more here. I, like Mystic, willing to help all that ask questions. I have been approached many times in truck stops and asking questions. I will do all that I can to give the correct information. I will warn you, watch out for the drivers that just want to bash because they are not doing well. If you talk to them for sometime, you will find out why.

Again, regarding load locks. I personally have gone to some of our customers that say that require at least 2 load locks or straps. When you arrive, you all of a sudden find out that they actually want 3-4. We also have some that the notes say that they are needed and when you get there, it is not because the trailer is so loaded, there is not room for them. These are things that are not in any manual and some of the information is very old. Messages are sent to try and update and for some reason, it does not happen. Company drivers, very easy to get load locks. If you receive a load that says that they are needed and you do not have, well, at least with us, or me, just send my DL a message, tells me to purchase, tell him how much and get a po and reimbursed that same week. Right now with this transition, I know that it is hard. I worked many years ago for a company called MNX. About 4 weeks after I started, they where bought out by Swift, and no one could get answers.

Hope that this helps. Again, at least here, between Mystic, myself, Moosetek and some others, we will do what we can to help you.
