I bet you and your co driver felt so humiliated. This is an example of guilty till proven innocent in this industry. The company won't pay for what you guys went thru.No doubt about it,I would be sueing your company like right now.I know a good lawyer who I bet would take your case.Things where the driver is automatically guilty happens far too often and when the company finds out different, they could care less,no apologies,no nothing.

I would not be surprised to find it was entertainment for the office.truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
Me either, not one bit surprised. They just chalk it up as just another day.Companies never do anything wrong, always the drivers fault.
Moon_beam, Truckinchic, truckerdave1970 and 1 other person Thank this. -
No I'm not okay with doing nothing. I will seek legal assistance. Do you know of any good lawyers who might be well versed in the ways of a trucker?
-
I cant believe you didn't get this worked out before they hauled you off to jail...Something doesn't sound right... Didn't you plead your case to the police while you were hand cuffed for them to call your company and that there had to be a mix up? Does your truck have the same name and what not that the trailer has on it? What class was the charge felony? Misdemeanor?
bigtssa Thanks this. -
The job of the police is not to hear your side of the story. They were told that the trailer was stolen, so they arrested us, that's what they do. As I said above the police said they were in contact with dispatch. How can I call in handcuffs, not to mention the lack of a signal in the mountains of Montana? Yes the truck and trailer have the same name and markings. No charge in the end we were released as I said above.
-
Yes we were humiliated. I will seek legal assistance in the coming days. If you can refer me to the lawyer you mentioned, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Didn't the MHP look at the BOL and see the trailer #?
And you had the registration to the trailer?
What's happened to common sense on the part of LEO's?
CRST should have given you two a couple days in a hotel to let your nerves quit jangling! -
The MHP did not touch the vehicle or check the paperwork. They just arrested us and transported us to the sheriffs station. Yes we had the registration. Common sense was no where to be found on this cold evening. The brain trust asked about the load before they asked if we were okay.

I like how it turns into "the police" bagering, Their job is not to say who's innocent or guilty, they received a call stating the trailer is stolen, all they did was their job, but as for the company, They as this reads to me, is at total fault, and should be kissig the team drivers back side, with a heafty (lets call it a) bonus, for the wrong done to these 2 drivers,
