Ok I want to chime in here. BTW you can not fail from second hand smoke as suggested earlier (not the urine anyway). I have accepted the fact that there will be not drug use in my life, even Alcohol will be servery limited to time when I have a buffer day before returning to work. So you can tell that I am not defending cannabis use. I just want to say this: why is cannabis singled out to like it is? It is by far the longest retaining illegal drug. I would strongly support measures not only to decriminalize it but more importantly to introduce testing that would treat in in the same manner as Alcohol, (test for active, or very recent, use). Again I am NOT saying it is ok for a "professional driver," just suggesting that it shouldn't be singled out for years (as the hair follicle test suggests). I mean so many only stay in the system for days or weeks, even with hair testing. As states exert their authority over the Federal government in this matter, it is important that testing standards follow. Again, NOT ok for CDL holders anyway, but not as horrible as year long back testing indicates.
I want to thank those for the advice and those who had their harsh opinions. We all know what they say about opinions. However I am not a "pothead" and yes I know I made a very stupid choice. I was not looking for sympathy nor did I need to be beat down more. I will continue on this journey and I will drive as I set out to. Yes smoking is bad and there are no excuses for my choice! Thanks again for the non judgmental comments!
I was worried about that myself. Did some research (online, you know how that is) and I did not fail. I did try to take steps to prevent from just sitting there inhaling the fumes, but several articles mentioned that while it is possible it would take very significant amount of smoke and the test would have to be taken almost immediately. I admit I can not guarantee what I said/wrote, but then again I rarely can.
I'm wondering why you went to do the drug test after you knew you smoked weed. Come down with the flu, a close friend died and you have to take care of their kids. Anything but go down and flunk a scheduled DOT drug test for a company. You might have committed career suicide.
Because as I stated I smoked 1 time and I did not think that it would be enought o fail me, and I also did come down with the Flu during orientation and was told that it was no excuse.
