The kit depending on how deep you wanna go of course pistons, liners, rods and mains, gaskets should run 2000 to 2500. I would put a head on it, they run about 800 haven't ever had much success getting one worked at local shop. I would think 2500 labor would catch it about any where. Labor would be 1800 to 2000 around here course labor rates and how time is figured varies.

Ok, there is 100 different ways to overhaul an engine. You can basically just take the head and oil pan off, replace six pistons and liners, throw it back together and call it "overhauled". That is the cheap way. Or you install a reman head, injectors, turbo, oil pump, water pump, air compressor, oil cooler, all new piston coolers, all new hoses and clamps, thermostats... really the list can just go and go and go. It depends on what you want to do. Most major shops and dealers are charging well over $100 bucks and hour. General inframes are about 40 hours. Prices can really increase quickly. Also, does your block need any machining to accept new liners? You won't find out until it is apart. Block cutting and liner shimming is expensive to have done properly. How much did they quote you, and what was included in the quote?

Heavy gave a lot better description of depending on how deep you wanna go. lol I have had customers want to order parts before tear down and have me do it in "3 days" so they are not down long. This never works out they end up short changing it and saying oh lets run it cause there heart is set on it. Thing is if you do it right you know what you have. Doing it any less and all you have is heartache. What does any one really know about a salvage engine. Have seen that go both ways.

You won't get out cheap as you like but can hook you up with some one in high point. Ever heard of a fellow like K.miller?best cat man in nc IMO. Would have no problem with L-10,but will not work for free!

Depends on model another local guy is good on isx. I have a n14 would not be worried about him doing a build. Not saying he can't do a isx. Just he knows older motors top to bottom especially b model cats.

Have them pull the mains before anything is done. Save you the heartache if the crankshaft is bad. We ran into that on an n14. Number 4 main was toast. Crank was far to scratched to be serviceable.
