the main reason the wifi doesn't work all that well at truck stops, is that you got a lot of people watching online movies or playing games, and doing those two things eats up a lot of the bandwidth, the truck stops routers have.
I m glad I don't waste my money on that anymore.
Verizon Mifi, and phone is a hotspot as well.

I'm on one of the old unlimited data plans that Verizon used to offer.

My phone has the only Internet that I have access to. Up until last month, I never noticed a difference. I guess I have been tagged as a top 5% user.

It is supposedly Verizon's policy to throttle the top 5% of users data during high use times. I am being throttled 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is no way you can tell me that 3 AM is a high used time.

It's too bad that I don't get what I pay for. I guess I should have looked at the microscopic print when I purchased the plan over 10 years ago. My guess is that there was no limit 10 years ago, they have changed the plan since then.

If I thought for one second that another company offers unlimited data, with no throttling, ever, I would move immediately. Verizon sucks, but it seems to be the only game in town for a trucker.

millenicom dot com. Get a Verizon hotspot device with 20+ gig/month for about $69/mth, no contract. I'm grandfathered to 60 gig allowance but I see they no longer offer 60 and is now 20 :(

I checked with these guys. The only way to get more than 20gb is to buy another device with activation fees. Even with that, it would save money vs verizon in the end.

This sounds like their way of motivating you to move away from a contract that they agreed to. Hate how companies can do this!
