Whats wrong with your? Any reason for wanting a new one?

If I had it to do over again I would have stayed with my '06. It had an ISX that was a boat anchor but after this '12 and all the EGR, EGR cooler, differential pressure switch, Venturi tube, harness and affiliated problems, I think it would have been the lesser of two evils. Talking from experience.

I've been fighting this question for some time.
I have a 2007 670,isx 500, 10 speed, 3.42 gears, super single tires. (like the setup except for the 10 speed and 3.42. . I'd get a 13 speed and 3.55/3.58s)
if I had the money??
Well, the only advantage to a new truck is the new car smell, super clean interior, which since it's winter, won't last long. new rubber, tight non rattling truck, less air leaks, and it's CA compliant.. I do like the hood mirrors..
Don't get me wrong, I like Volos and would take one in a hot second.
The new trucks seem to have more problems with the EGR/DPF. SCR seems to not be so bad in the later 2013-15s. -
I would go with new. I would get your hands on a xe package if possible as the engine is built stronger and you will get better fuel efficiency.

whats stronger about the engine. i thiought it was a programing thing?

I got a new '14, 455 D13, I shift, 2.64 rears, and 22.5LP. I came out of an '07 with an '06 530 ISX, 13 double over, 3.55, 24.5LP. The rpms are about 50 lower in the new truck. Fuel mileage is up a couple tenths, but I only have 13K miles on it, with winter fuel. The I shift can be frustrating at times, but sure is nice in stop and go traffic. I can feel the difference between 455/1750 and 530 and 1850 on the hills, but it is not too bad, and may improve with time.

Maybe I am blowing smoke up your rear. I know the xe16 is a completely different engine than the normal d16 due to oversized connecting rods and larger bearing surfaces which aid in friction and heat resistance because the engine lugs alot.
I just assumed the xe13 would have the same as it lugs at low rpm just the same, I may be wrong and will look into this.wacbag Thanks this. -
Blow up the Ishift and it's 30,000 compared to 13 speed it around 6K.

If you don't go to California, don't even think to buy new; i spent lots of $$ in emission maintenance on my 2008/780/D13 . I could also keep mylast truck,(2001 Volvo 770), buy new motor, Bose seat or some other stuff for the $$ wasted in cleaning DPF,sensors, Bs.
