No I cannot confirm anything about MTC as I it has been 6 mos. since I was employed by them. My trainer had 3+ years experience and was an A+ person and a ###### good trainer. I just got lucky. I like MTC's side by side training method. IMHO team training SUCKS. Just my $.02

I can see teaming for the last week, but initial training really needs to be side by side.

Agreed, however the high turnover rate of new OTR drivers, there has to be a better way to get drivers trained. With only 1 in 10 trucking school graduates making it a year in this industry. Cost effectiveness seems to be the deciding factor. The risk of public safety is a secondary consideration with self insured, profit seeking trucking companies. Something is wrong.

Most new drivers don't leave this industry because they aren't properly "trained". They leave because it's hard to earn a living wage during the period of time that is necessary to build up their experience, which in turn qualifies them for better paying opportunities. Not to mention, OTR trucking with all that goes with it is really hard.

My trainer had 2 years at the time and I thought did right by me, no complaints about May from me it is what it is.
Most get started there then either decide trucking isn't for them or they move on like I did.
Driving for May for the most part is like getting paid to go to school, you don't make much money but you get an education.

The first year is really an apprenticeship with a modest stipend throw in just in case you want to purchase a hot dog off of the heated, steel rollers. If you think of it as an extension of your initial schooling, then the reality of your bank balance vs. hours worked doesn't sting as much.

I have had three (3!) different trainers tell me to move on after I have completed my first year.
