Correct- so long as you hit the requirements for a 34 hour restart. I know of one driver who, by choice, didn't get home until Saturday morning and ran on recap the next week because he didn't get a restart.

    That's right.

That's affirmative. As long as you can "gain some hours back" while on recap, then you can run that number of hours.

I worked for McElroy for about Eight months. Would probably still be there but we added a new addition to the family so had to take a little break. Really don't have any major complaints. I think all in all they are a pretty good starter company. Pay was not that bad, home time was okay. Just depended on where you picked your load up on Fri and where it had to be delivered on Mon.

Do you really get home during the week some. The recruiter told me since I was fairly close to Cuba, AL, that id be able to get home sometimes during the week. Just wondering if they were blowing smoke.

I don't think it matters where you live. It all depends where you pick up on fri and where it has to go on mon. They require you to be a your dest. 9 hours before your unload time. So if you pick up a load, lets say at TK in north of mobile and it has to be delivered in Little Rock, AR by 7 am Monday morning you wud have to leave out sun in enough time to be there by 9 pm sun night. And the dedicated drivers I knew at McElroy was there for at least 5 yrs

and yes there was times I got home during the wk. If I had a load that delivered close to my hometown I was able to stop and stay over night at my house

When I was at MTL, most of the places to which I delivered had overnight parking available, like a Lowes for example. If a place doesn't offer it, no big deal. McElroy just prefers you be parked close to your Monday morning drop in time to get your 10 hour break by unload time the next day. If you're already parked at the consignee, you're ahead of the game in regard to hours the next day.
