Or less even? I mean: you get to have some big, heavy, cool looking machine on the trailer~ you can brag to all your friends about being a heavy hauler. Why would you even want to make money doing it? Aren't the bragging rights worth paying for?
    :/
I know it's a business; some folks sure do trim you if you let them

You've been running your numbers for a few months now, right? How's it going? Is it everything you expected it to be?

Well there are certainly ups and downs; overall I'm happy that I took the gamble. I've yet to stumble across a regular thing that's worth doing, but I have been able to stay profitable even on the most dismal of weeks. I can say that I should have lined up more direct customers before proceeding, as the ones I did line up have significantly less work for me than they claimed. I was hoping to get more local work, which is definitely hit or miss as folks seem to think one day or same day notice is enough. There is certainly a learning curve and I'm picking up knowledge along the way. I have a few good folks that I can bounce ideas off of and vice versa, that has certainly been helpful. Knowing my bottom line, and what lanes should pay in some areas has been of great help as well. The carrier I had been leased to had some good things going, so that gave me a pretty strong idea of what rates need to be on particular lanes.
    Thanks for asking Fortycalglock

Glad to hear it's going decent for you. Knowing what rates should be definitely gives you the upper hand over many new authorities. Isn't it amazing how promised work gets scaled back or becomes nonexistent? I bought a couple reefers a few years ago for a deal that disappeared right after I took delivery.

I'm not talking specifically about the Google pic of a residence along the US route with 1000s of vehicles passing it everyday, I mean this has happened before a few years back. I know one user got locked out of here for posting truckstop pic of a urine dumper and TTR protected the urine dumper's identity and banished the guy.

Just saying, ya know they play favorites here. Over and out!

I deal with direct buyers and most of the equipment go to other countries... I never deal with Brokers, most of the loads go by 3 brokers before it reaches the load board or trucker and pay cheap and dont want to pay waiting time, I deal with owner operators before giving it to a broker. And trust me folks if you deal with direct buyers you will make money and even pay you with what i call tips, getting their friends to ship with you.

right now this is getting hectic, too many people at once.

Unconditionally, USHIP has brought the idea to Buyers that they can ship what they want for what they want to pay and a lot of people have gone with that concept.

Made it to Phoenix, Called my one buddy who is a trk. boss here with a local hauling company.
They have been steady for the year allready. His thing is he has some people call him last min. and ask him to get a machine moved like yesterday. He said he quotes a price and they panic..
Hears the we'll call you back. 2 hours later they go can you still get it> Nope trk. busy now and if you want it moved after 5pm here's our rate,Ok please get it for us.
He said they had one customer call them from time to time after their fav. local guy would drop the ball wanting it done cheap. His boss I guess called them back and said pack sand. He had a call last week and went in and signed a contract with that company at his bosses rate and they have been steady
