The drivers with the filthy trucks you describe are not rookies, or wannabe truckers -- these are the human wrecks thrown up at the world by a sick industry. Nobody starts out like this. IMHO.

You are not understanding what I'm trying to tell you. Let me put it this way, the bottom is a whole lot further down than it used to be. Hope that helps clarify my original statement.

Yep everyone does need to pay their dues. They also need to learn how to be lazy by not walking to the restroom and just relieve themselves in the parking lot, not shower, wear a "DOT approved" headset to dinner (you look like a fast-food drive through worker when you don't take that thing off of your head), keeping the INSIDE of your truck as dirty as possible. Maybe it's a good idea to clean yourself up prior to demanding that you be treated like a professional.

Man truck drivers have it rough...I know we all want to be rich...but if we were all rich who would want to work then? Talk about empty trucks..2,500 miles x .32 CPM = $800..$800 to start out in a new career and the company you start with will pay off you training..stick it out for a year or 2 and you can find something that pays ya better than that, $1,000+..not many jobs you can go into and do better than that..Its not for everyone..I dont know what trucking used to be like back in the day, but obviously those days are over..good thing is now a days you don't have to kill yourself running 2 log books to make your $$..

Most companies I would imagine would terminate your employment if they realized you lied on your application(or left something out)..falsifying your application to get a job really isn't on the company..no idea how how these companies handle business and not I am not sticking up for them...

First.. I totally agree with bobbybaldwin... If you want to be treated like a professional and paid a professional wage.. then you have to be a professional.. why should a company care about you when you dont care enough about yourself to keep yourself clean and groomed... I do not pee in or around my truck.. I go inside and use the restroom, wash mh hands like I have been doing since kindergarten.... if you are not taking care of yourself then the chances are likely that you are too lazy to take care of your truck.. proper pretrips, cleaning, and such... also, to be a professional you do need to know how to communicate, with your company, dispatch, shippers/receivers and such..

I also want to say.. that after having a dangerous and horrible experience with co-drivi g for an O/O, then another bad experience working for a small company I went to Werner.. and it has been good for me and far better than both the O/O and the small company.. I am earning more, have more support, and they keep me rolling.. I am not micro managed.. but, my fleet manager knows I am responsible and will manage my time and day wisely to safely make my delivery on time... while I only get .34 per mile, I do also get various other pay, like safety pay, stop pay, layover pay and different bonuses that added together I make over $1000 a week.. I have good good health, dental and vision insurance as well as get discounts on my cell phone service, my car insurance and at Werner Cycle for my motorcycle... I am on a dedicated Account and am home every weekend.. I started on this account right after getting off the trainers truck..
As fae as my training with werner.. my first trainer was not great, but I called my student manager andthey got me to the terminal and in another trainers truck.. he was great, an ex marine, million miller and a great trainer..who I still call with questions...

I see drivers being stupid and unsafe out there.. they lose their job and then blame it on the company odr regulations.. but they are not big enough to take responsibility for themselves... instead they cry victim...
