Well, I have to agree with everything said by both of you.
We lost this war years ago.
Total cost since declaring, well over 7 trillion dollars.
To put this in prospective. The US is currently 9 trillion plus in debt.
But, we never surrender. Unless the body count effects the votes.
BTW, I thought the videos were hilarious.
A positive drug screen result

The reason the US will never formally surrender is there are millions of dollars made from the drug trade....on BOTH sides of the issue. The legal side needs judges, lawyers court houses jails cops etc ad infinitum.

Just because alcohol and tobacco are legal does'nt make them right. These 2 drugs are highly addictive and kill more people in this country than anything else that you can even think of(except maybe fast food), so the fact that they are legal means absolutly nothing. If prohibition was passed tommorrow and alcohol was declared illegal, how many of you would still drink a few from time to time?
As far as weed goes, just because a man smokes a fatty does'nt make him a drug addict, no more than a man having a few beers with dinner is an alcoholic.
Now cigarettes is a whole other story. If you want to ruin your health/body in short order, I can think of no faster way to do it than smoking cigarettes. Cancer, cardiovascular disease, emphysema, hardning of the arteries, high blood pressure, premature aging, bad breath, brown teeth and overall poor health. Tar and nicotene are extremely addictive.
Why anyone would willingly do that to their bodies is beyond me. I guess most people don't care as long as they can do whatever it is they like to do, maybe some are too weak to stop.So so sad, when your health is ruined and disease sets in its to late to stop then.
As with anything in this life that brings pleasure in one form or another, people will abuse it. If you smoke weed, tobacco or drink alcohol or whatever , its all the same legal or not. If it even slightly impairs you, it still affects you physically and mentally long after the buzz is gone. Whatever you do just don't abuse it, and be careful, it could cost you your job or your life. -
There is nothing wrong with drinking, smoking weed, or even dabbling in some nose candy from time to time. You just have to do it when you are off duty and give yourself a couple days to clear out of your system.

I guess I'll add 2 cents in here. Whenever you take a drug test for any trucking company or CDL school for ANY REASON, the positive results are flagged on your DAC report and stays there for life. This should have been explained to you when you got your CDL and with your company. It is an implied consent kind of thing that you must submit to random drug test and to refuse to do so is considered the same as a positive drug result.
As far as alcohol is concerned, if you have more than .04 BAC driving a commercial vehicle, you are considered DUI. Also you cannot drink while ON duty or driving. In fact, you cannot legally transport alcohol in the tractor of a commercial vehicle, unless it was part of the load. But then it would be in trailer, right?
You said you've been driving there for 6 months, so I find it silly that you did not know these things. When you are just entering CDL school or any trucking company, the instructors usually give the entire class a brief on what happens when you take the drug test. If you feel in any way that you are not ready for the drug test, you are encouraged to NOT take the test and just come back when you know for sure you can pass it. You are not penalized for this. Obviously neither the company or the school wants to lose money or see one of their potential drivers fail, so they usually ingrain this into the newbie mindset.
I know when I went to school, 3 different instructors briefed the class BEFORE taking the DOT physical the consequences of coming up positive. If you weren't sure, you would have the opportunity to talk to the supervisor of the school and work something out (no legal trouble, just rollover to the next class date).
I wont get into the pissing contest of whether it should be legal or not (marajuana, alcohol, etc). The federal gov't is real serious about drugs, especially the military. At least the Navy and Air Force. Zero tolerance.
I've seen people get separated in less than 2 weeks after the positive result came in. I've seen people fight it and win. But plan on spending $10k on legal fees. Not to mention the stress your command will give you. Anyway, I hope I was helpful. -
Drug Testing should be Illegal ! All you do gooders out there thinking its doing some good you are brainwashed in my opionion.I know people that slam some serious Drugs on the weekend or a Friday night and come up pissin clean as a whistle on monday. Its all about Insurance. I dont do drugs anymore but i have in the past . At the end of the day its all about PERSONAL responsibility . Just like drinking . I find it funny how some folks in this thread jumped right on the man for toking on a joint . Gimme a break fellas. I'd rather ride with a person that just smoked a joint then some clown all whacked outta his or her mind on RedBulls and Caffeine pills . I feel if you are going to test Truck Drivers you should Test Everybody else on the road. Might as well pull people over and have em piss right there on the side of the road . A person on " DRUGS " in a Honda is just as dangerous as a person behind the wheel of a Truck . So make it fare and Test Everyone !?! Not to Mention the 4th Ammendment of Constitution. Illegal SEARCH AND SEIZURE !! I say. But i'll keep pissin in a cup like the rest of the Sheeple to keep my pay checks coming in .
sodbuster03 Thanks this. -
what if your postive and you dont smoke????????????????
-
How do you figure that? 80,000 lbs compared to 6000? Which would do more damage? Not to mention truckers are out there a lot longer than 4 wheelers. No one should be drinking or using drugs and driving. A truck driver is suppose to be a professional.

I dont know you tell me whats more dangerous . The fella that smoked a joint on Friday night while watching a movie and shows up ready to work on monday sober as can be . Or the fool on meth driving down the highway in his Toyota next to me on my Motorcycle . My point is drug testing is stupid it doesnt prove a #### thing . The entire war on drugs is a joke to be honest. Wanna talk about Danger ? How about the illegal Alien that can't read in English driving anything let alone a big rig . DOT 5 dope test what a joke . Allot of stuff that should be tested for doesnt get tested for ie. abuse of prescription drugs. Vicoden wont show up Oxycontin wont show up but lord have mercy dont smoke the POT ! Mess a guys life up forever because he sat shutgun in his buddies car on the way to the Van Halen concert and he happend to inhale some Pot smoke. Gov. B.S . Lets drug test CONGRESS ! see what shows up there . I may seem like im pro-drug or something but im not. I dont use drugs .I quit doing everything including drinking when i got my cdl 11 years ago . But im for common sense and drug tests dont make any sense to me unless you are going to test EVERYONE on the road . Its a slippery slope with these drug tests and i dont like the fact that some LAB can determine if i work or not. Things can go wrong with the process of testing . And you are already Guilty till the " LAB " says you are innocent . I would like to see the actual numbers on drugs and truck crashes before and after these policies were implimented . When i pee in the cup i always give the pee police a piece of my mind and i always make sure to leave plenty of liquid on the outside of the cup . So F-off pee police ! Wake up America ! One RIGHT after another after another .. they just keep taking and taking .

They take 2 samples, they can test the second sample to insure it wasn't a false positive.
The days of multiple false positives are over. Diluted and inconclusive test are failures.
You test positive, you are positive. Even if the second one shows clear. You may keep your current job. But don't try to go elsewhere.
The question on ALL applications is plainly worded, "Have you every failed a drug screen?"
Not "Did you fail a retest". A false positive, is a failure. The fact that the second sample showed the first results to be wrong, are irrelavent.
I don't like it, but I will join the ranks of the unemployed if I ever test positve, falsly or not. I am not going to burn through my entire life savings, to get another job in trucking.
