Prime or US XPress?

They take driver comfort seriously so they put people in casket trucks and push them to drive double nickle. Where do I sign up????

 

Now that you have narrowed it down to two or three. Do this. I have posted this before but I strongly believe in it.

Contact someone on this sight that works for one of the companies you wish to work for. Drivers make money by recruiting newbies. Might as well give that money to someone here instead of letting the company keep it. You will also make a friend in the company who you can call when you have a problem. You can never have enough friends.

Go to your local truck stop, snag a few prime drivers and a few USX drivers. Offer to buy them a burger or a cup of coffee, if they have a few minutes to chat with you about their company, tell them straight off that you are a student and want to know about two of your options.

Just be mindful of how you approach them and how you phrase your request, they will be inclined to ignore you or even may be rude if they don't realize your not begging,selling, or trying to scam them.

Most of the ones that talk to you, will probably refuse your offer of a burger or some coffee, but will talk to you for a minute. We are a lonely bunch .

This was the advice I was given in school, I did it. I just had my 2 year mark yesterday and wouldn't leave my company for anything.

They will test you for 3 weeks [this is my experience]
Push your buttons and piss you off. Then they will give you a great run about once a month.
Best pay check I've brought in was 898.45 and that was due to breakdown pay.
Yeah.... I'd not go with US Xpress <,<

 

My hubby started with Prime. Yeah the lightweight trucks suck, not a lot of room, but like a previous poster said they all have apu's which we are finding out that most companies don't so that is a plus. Also they do pay the newbies the best from what I have found. In a lightweight truck if you make your fuel bonus you wil get about .40 cpm which is much better than most of the other starter companies.

 

If I were running regional and home every week I'd run that truck. But weeks on the road, #### that ####!

I hope you don't mind me posting on your thread but I have to make a decision by next week and I need advice.I have been researching and calling companies everyday now for about a month and since I haven't drove in 7 years looks like I'm going to have to go with Western Express (dry van) or C.R. England (reefer) I am pre-hired with both companies I just have to pick one. Does anyone know which one may be the best to go with?

 

I drove the wheels off my flat floor cabover, but I was home every night or every other night. The light weights are for heavy loads. So pulling heavy loads, with little motor makes for a super long day and just think you hit that hill at 55 it's going to take you a minute or two. Call me when you get to the top. We Goneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Yeeeeeee haww
