Is that $970 take home pay or gross? I work for Reddaway (one of the YRC companies) and I take home approx 1000 to 1100 a week unless it's slow. I will say $970 for 30 hours is good pay. Technically you would be making 1940 a week working 60 hours! I know that's not how they do it but my 70 hours only gets me $1500 gross!

There are some big pluses going to YRC though. Free benefits for you, your wife, and kids, all you pay is union dues and the benefits are really good. That's if you have a family of course. Better yet try ABF or UPSF. At least they still have a pension plan. I don't know what YRC is doing with that right now. I would only do line haul though.

I'd gladly take a pay cut even if the gross was $970 for 30 hours.

There's YRC terminals in Carlstadt, Trenton, Kearny, and Rockaway in NJ. For UPSF there's Moonachie, Carteret, and Pensauken. Never seen the PEN terminal but the other two are cluster f@#$s. ABF I onlyvknow of in Carlstadt.

I'll trade for that 30 hour weeks. I have other part time jobs I could work as well. But I hear you on the bills

I definitely tried doing some things on the side part time but Schneider wants you to be available whenever they call. I typically don't start until 8-9pm but they occasionally call me to start earlier. It's a pain in the #####. I can't commit to anything else.

You will be waiting by the phone should you decide to go to one of the big ltl outfits too. At least for the first year unless you get lucky and get a bid run when they hire you.

Ok so should I go with YRC, ABF, or Estes. I am in the Newburgh NY area and all three are hiring. I already interviewed with YRC and was "hired" as a road driver, pending background and drug screen, I was told I will start with $25.00 a hour and .61 cents a mile. Thenn give back 15%. Is this true or false

All are true. I'm a union guy so I would say no to Estes but that's me. ABF and YRC are great jobs. Both have there pros and cons

Unless they changed it it was 20.35 a hour and 52cpm to start. I think that might be casual pay starting till you make the list. I used to work at that terminal, a lot of great guys there, shop stewards for the road are awesome as well. I would say no to Estes as well. No overtime till after 55 hours
