I am a prior driver, but I have been out of the driver's seat since 2001 and out of the Iindustry since 2006. My hubby and I drove team for a few years shortly after we where married. My husband has over 20 yrs driving experience. He has been driving local for the past 13 yrs. He has been with his current company since November. There maintenance is unbelievable, and leaves me shaking my head in disbelief. After a company meeting this evening I'm concerned that some of there requests are not legal. So I'm here searching for some answers and information for my husband. I know some of you are probably thinking he should just quit, but we live in a small town and jobs are very hard to come by. I greatly appreciated any help or information I can get. Thank you in advance.

I don't know the full story, but since I don't like drama, I would quietly search for a new job. After finding a new job would just gracefully leave. Start the search with some logistics companies such as Cardinal Logistics. Look at Indeed website for local/regional jobs if you don't want OTR. Even some OTR companies have weekends at home. There's lots of experience on this forum, so give us a hint as to where you live and someone on here can help.

I see you have left LOT's of posts Chinatown, and have had almost as many thanks, but if this is the advice you give regarding this woman's scenario after 30 years of driving you never should have been in a truck to begin with. KanneK if the maintenance issues at your husbands company seem atrocious I would highly recommend you anonymously notify OSHA and DOT immediately. This is not only a safety issue for your husband but for every other motorist on the road as well. I sympathize with the company that profits must be made to provide employment opportunities, but not at the risk of endangering lives. You should also take into account length with the company before and after employment when notifying the authorities. If just hired or just fired/resigned and out of the blue an anonymous tip is made then it is not hard to figure out who made the call.
