I am not starting in on you! I left home when I was 16 years old and have worked hard all my life. I am not crying about supporting my family. I will work till the day I die to provide for them. If you want to shut down. Then shut down. I will feed my family. Go back to the original post. You called me out. I never got on you for shutting down. I have not turned a key on my truck for over a week. I have to go back out. I am not asking for anything. I am working for it!

That is good, I hope for your sake you can continue to be a bread winner for your family since your family is your responsibility. If you think this is how I call you out - you had better think again. Believe me If I call you out, you will know it. This is about truckers who have a problem with the way things are going. Not about you who are happy with the way you are living. We do not need anyone undermining our efforts in trying to make this better for all of us.

I never undermined anything. Re-read my original post from where you started this with.

One has to look at all the key factors in play here to tally the cost. One I can see as a company driver how painfull the fuel pump bandit is. The ones who are hurting the most is the O/O's. Remember most company drivers are under forced dispatch. How are they going to strike being non union? Second the only ones that have a little more say so in what they do are the O/O's and how long can you afford to strike with all your payments stacking up against you? Companies will need their freight moved and will look at non union companies to do it. Back to the company driver who is non union who will be fired for not getting the freight there because the company will say we are paying for the fuel not you. Get the load there. I see this strike as a dog chasing it's tail. What are you going to do when you catch it?:biggrin_2556: Hence the problem of a nation wide strike. Again there are to many factors involved in the equation. I know there is a problem, but I don't see a strike helping the matter any only making it worse.

Look at GM and all their strikes. Those plants in Anderson IN (former world headquarters for Delco Remy (GM) are in mexico. Those factories that was making the big bucks are now off the wall companies making 8 bucks an hour. You are just inviting mexican truckers here to do your job by striking.

You need to run for President, you have all the answers. First off I have no loans. The only thing I owe is my monthly utility bills. Second, I don't have to work. Third I don't force any driver to do anything, I make it worth their while to get done what I need done, I would never ask one to do what I have done either. Forth I don't care about GM, they went out because they failed. Maybe it was because of the employee's not doing their job or just doing a lousy job. 5 you keep referring back to Anderson Indiana. That is the biggest problem. I live in Indiana, and the truth is we are not laid back we ARE PLAIN LAZY AND STUPID AND THAT IS WHY THIS STATE HAS CRAP WAGES AND WHY INDIANA IS 10 YEARS BEHIND THE TIMES. NOW. I have set up a place for truckers to take refuge so they don't have to pay for showers, places to park, high price restaurant's food while they participate in this shut down to make things better for everyone in the trucking field. If we succeed so will you if your employer starts giving you better benefits and pay. If we loose you may be out of a job also. I am not going to waste my time on arguing with you any longer on this computer, I am calling you out, here is my address. If you feel you are right and we won't make a difference stop on out.

I don't care what you care about there company driver ???? I just don't want to see you crying the blues because your truck got tore up or you got tore up n can't work n support your family ???:biggrin_25524: I also don't care if your a OO or not (you wouldn't make it with that attitude anyway ???) You can only absorb costs so much ??? This day n age it doesn't mean that just because your total expenses for running the truck n the bussiness are 1.30 that the freight will pay that much ???? Then if you add a decent driveing wage for yourself of say .50 a mile then you have 1.80 ??? Some shippers will work with raiseing rates some will not ?? But when you have a scab driver (yes I'm talking about you n people like you !!!) doing nothing to help the effort and undermineing our efforts then I understand ""other"" people doing crazy things that they would normaly not do !!

I don't support the violence but at the same time I do understand desperate people hurting and lashing out at some-one trying to undermine their efforts !!! Myself I am like the other OO I have no bills but that doesn't mean I want to donate my equipment n time by running cheap either. There are a lot of people that are looseing their equipment as well as their homes ect ect ect and I wouldn't want to be a person like you running down the road next week singing my ""ONLY I MATTER"" songs when they catch up to you ????:biggrin_25521: I'm not going to be out there next week because I'm going to support this effort but I won't be out there hunting for a scab driver either but what about some of the rest of them as well as all the crazies that ain't even drivers but will use this as a excuse to mess with people ???:biggrin_25510: Back in the 80's there were people shooting trucks that had nothing to do with the trucking industry ??? :violent1:They were just pissed off about some-thing ??? Probably because they used to have GM jobs in Anderson IND ???? By the way if all those people there with you in Anderson IND loved their GM jobs so much why ain't they liveing in Mexico now still working for GM ???? :biggrin_25522: GOOD LUCK TO YOU NEXT WEEK ???? !!! Mr Company Driver !!!! You n people like you are the single biggest problem with this industry !!! I'm just being truth-full with you this is not a attack in any way.. But you need to realize what your actions are doing to other people and their reacation to it ???? This trucking industry isn't all about ""you"" n ""your"" need to support ""your"" family ??? I'm not mad or even upset but I can't guarrantee about that other person or people that you may come into contact with next week ???

Thank you Lionman, First I would like to apologize for the way I had lashed out or became rabid. I think it needs to be brought to everyones attention that in no way did I intend to do this here. If you are an O/O or company driver and still work during the shut down, that is your choice. I do know some company drivers will have to work or may loose their jobs, I do understand some O/O will have to work or they may loose everything if they already haven't. I do have a heart, and do have feelings. I wish you all the best. For those of you who will be shut down, If you are in northern Indiana and need to save a few bucks you are welcome to come to our place. You can use our shower, watch some TV, camp out here in your truck and we can run to the store and get some food and have hot meals or if you wish just order out. I thought this may help some with costs. I hope it will make it a little easier. I will even extend this to a company driver or O/O who wants to stop by to see what this is all about. I will give this warning to the ones who wish to cause problems, this would not be the place to start any. I think I have said enough, I wish you all the best and hope we make a difference for the better.

    Dear Flatbed Pete,

I 100% agree with everything you are saying. I wish to god I could shut down as well. I am a flat bed driver and love this job, even though I am away from my 4 children far too much. After a brake fire, a dealer selling me a stolen trailer, and now fuel prices and ####### brokers I am basically wiped out as far as cash reserves are concerned. I simply can't stop running. My credit is being wiped out, and I am just a flat tire from being put out of bussiness. I would love to be in your shoes and I agree with a shut down, strike or:biggrin_25513: what ever you want to call it, but I have to put food on the table. I don't know what else to say, but good luck.

    Kind regards,
    Paul Ftzsimons

That's pretty bad a 13 year old kid pretty much knows what's going on here. Our govt. ought to be ashamed of themselves for letting us get into this situation.

Ohhh I agree and what is worse is that no one running this time around cares about us or anyone else for that matter.

I am new to this site but my hubby is a union member. Yes, strikes DO make a difference. Imagine ALL truckers getting sick for 2 or 3 days. This would affect every industry and worker in the states. Maybe just pulling over and sitting for 1/2 a day could also work. I would put placards up letting everyone know that you are striking for lower fuel & gas prices. This now brings the general public in on it and shows that you are trying to help them also. So many variables...so little time!!!
Good luck and all truckers are in my thoughts & prayers.
