How often do you change your oil? I run Rotella 15w-40 and a gallon of Lucas oil treatment.

I run rotella also with an OPS bypass system and an old 777 bypass filter,so 3 oil filters on a Cat 3406C. I change my oil at 15000 miles and use no additives like lucas. I do not do the extended drains and we are overhauling it the second time as I type this. The 1st overhaul went One million and 50 thousand miles, and the pistons and liners had very little wear on them, but I was loseing a lot of oil from under the head . The head gasket was good but most of the O rings were shot, and I was starting to worry about dropping a valve.

at how many miles did you do your 2nd overhaul. If you did it after more then 1 mil miles was it because the ops system helping you out. I also use rotella and change my oil every 10 to15k miles depending on how much I idle the truck.

I am sure it is the OPS helping to go that long my oil usually never gets really black.

I use Mobil Delvac 15w40 and run 14-16k between changes. Got 1.8 million on the engine.
What are you referring to as OPS? Oil prelube or oil bypass filteration?

30-35 000 miles(I change filters around 15k), only synthetic Shell Rotella T6; no additives; still running great, 8-9 mpg ,original motor 1,245,000 miles Volvo D13/2008; the owner manual is suggesting to change it at 35,000 miles for trucks running applications with fuel economy over 6.5 mpg /Volvo D13 .

I havn't changed my oil in 60,000 miles since i installed my ops. Samples come back perfect. I add a gallon every 20,000 when i change the filters and re sample. I use rotella full synthetic T6. I lube every 10k tho.

i rarely idle since i have a bunk heater. With AGM batts, synth oil, and a good starter I've started from -20 with no trouble at all.

Well, I run a bypass, but I also change the oil at around 20,000 on my pre-egr Detroit 60. I use Schaeffer 7000 15w40 synthetic blend that I can get at a lower price than any comparable product and have it delivered free to my front door. Going 5000 mile over the OEM recommended interval of 15,000 miles is fine with me. I have never been into the seeing how long it can go game, but I have always felt that the OEM recommended drain intervals were a little low. God bless those that are into setting oil change interval records and such things. I probably could go longer, but I am not wasting anything. It is my money, and all used oil is recycled. I don't have to add any oil between oil changes either. It fits nicely inside of my comfort level, so no amount of persuasion is going to get me to change the routine. Each person has to find what works for them, helps them to sleep well at night, and not worry about what others think about it.

I only dont change it because the samples say i dont need to. If the samples say the oil isnt dirty why change it? At the first sign of anything i will change it as im not trying to set any records lol. They say a 0 or 1 means no need to change oil. 2 means you should. I'll be changing as soon as see a 1. So far nothing but 0.
