ISX CM871 Regen Frequency

    I'm looking at a 2008 Peterbilt with 533,000 miles, 21,000 hours of total run time. ISX 485 HP, 1850 Torque. In that time it has done 1938 complete regenerations and 20 incomplete. That seems really high to me, I'm thinking I should pass. Any comments/insight are much appreciated.

    FWIW it does have a brand new DPF and it dynoed really well- 434 HP, 4 inches of crankcase pressure, 32 psi manifold pressure. Lifetime MPG is right at 5, but it has had a lot of idle time and used 1671 gallons on the friggin regens. I do love the truck tho.....

    This truck is due for everything. The DPF is only one component. It will likely need a new DOC soon. Has the EGR cooler ever been changed, if not, bet on that too. EGR valve, doser injector, fueling actuators, turbo won't last forever and so on. I would be expecting to spend money for more repairs if I where you.

    Ask to see the warrantee work done on the engine.....

    I would pass on any 08-09 truck, they are more trouble than they are worth.
    That's probably why the sale price is so low.

    Thanks! What amazes me is they sold it to someone else, right out of the blue yesterday. I hope I see the truck someday & can ask how he's doing with it. Looks to me like he bought it with no inspections or due diligence to speak of.
