It will get easier, krazyhorse. Every driver has started from the same place... and been just as nervous their first time into some of the major cities. Try to take care of yourself along the way and not get too stressed.
Take a look at the blog, there may be things on there that will help you along the way....

I got suck on a narrow street, deep ditches on both sides my first time out. I put myself "off duty" and the e-logs clock showed it took me 36 minutes to turn around, inch by inch. I also skipped meals, cleared my gps of directions and felt lost, etc. my first few trips. I actually did a bunch of bone head stuff that I am too shy to admit here. It does get easier ... way easier.
Just focus on your safe driving, don't hit anything and all of the rest of the stuff will work itself out.Last edited: Mar 6, 2014

Oh, I actually like the TransAm supplied Co-Pilot GPS now. I mean, the user input system SUCKS, trying to enter information with the stupid little touch screen buttons. The "quick stops" info, stuff like truck stops, Walmart locations, etc on the Rand McNally is much better than the Co-Pilot but as far as basic navigation to get to the places that we go. I think the Co-Pilot does fine. IMHO.

Except the times it has the wrong location. The one I remember is a receiver in Seminole, OK. Co-pilot semds you down a residential street and says the receiver is an empty lot. When the customer is really 2 miles west. Told Calico times it was wrong and what to change. Never was fixed while I was there. I forgot the name of the place. But it is in Seminole, OK.

Yeah, I say the GPS does a great job about 98% of the time .. the other 2% it seems like it goes out of its way to SCREW you. Only thing, I found it just the same with the Rand McNally. I ran both, the Co-Pilot and Rand McNally side-by-side with my coach. Like I said the Rand McNally was better with side information like truck stops, but for basic navigation, the Co-Pilot held up well compared to the Rand McNally. Co-Pilot actually got it right at times the Rand McNally got it wrong ( and Vice versa).
I would say if you have the money to burn and are into it. Why not get the Rand McNally to go with the Co-Pilot. But if you just signed a lease agreement and are trying to get into the black, my point is, I don't think you need to run out and get a back-up GPS if you have Co-Pilot. Co-Pilot will get the job done!
Some of the stuff, maybe like with your example is the address is just wrong. Sometimes we get a business office address when we want the warehouse. I cases like that, Co-Pilot and Rand do a fine job of getting you to an address but still no help if TransAm has the wrong address to send drivers in their records and refuse to change it. -
Passport give great advice. Just take your time and be safe. Remember no one starts at the top and everyone makes mistakes at first but soon enough you will be getting it right and it will seem like a distant memory. Just be glad you didn't start out the same way I did having to learn in NYC and I mean learn everything from scratch. You will be out of Cali soon and be in the rest of the country and it will get easier. Just take your time

I thought TA quit supporting copilot and didn't put directions and fuel stops on it
google earth on here saves my butt more often then anything elsejaso36 Thanks this. -
^ Yeah, still use Co-Pilot with stops, fuel stops sent to the clipboard just the same as always. Only stopped sending the written route solution.
