    i know they can ask

but are we required to give it to them?

friend of mine was telling me Maine sits at the bottom and pulls people in and asks for toll receipts or even scans your EZ pass

legal if you give it to them, but are we required to give them anything other than the BOL (if we are loaded) and the typical license, med card, cab card?

one guy gave him his "statement of lease" to the company and got shut down because Barney said it didnt define who pays the IFTA (Barney must have went to law school at night)

From a "legal" standpoint, I don't really know the answer to your question, but from a "realistic" standpoint, do you really know what will happen if you "buck" them??? They will find something wrong with you or your truck and they will shut you down. I know that this is not right, but face reality, play their game, don't "stir the pot", you can't win. In other words, you may have the "right" to refuse to show the receipts but the grim truth is that you or me or any other citizen of this country only operate in our daily lives if we play by "their rules". We actually have no freedom. Read Gerry Spence's book, "Give Me Liberty".

You don't need to worry about what a cop will find in your paperwork or truck unless you are doing something wrong.

If you are polite to even the jerkiest cop, the chances are really good he's going to cut you some slack.

Yes , everything in your truck is potentially incriminating

I suggest driving naked and toss out all receipts

If he can even scan your IPass, all it will give him is a id number. IPass does not give the DOT open access to their info or system.

How many people actually get toll receipts anymore? Those who do might be subject to inspection as they can be used in an in-house audit so I see no reason they'd be off limits in a roadside inspection. They can incriminate or they can validate a log book.

Fuel receipts do not have a time stamp on them, only a date. So I'm not sure what Barney could do with them to try and reconcile to the logs. And "scans" your EZPass? I smell urban myth story as can only be started by some trucker with a trucker's type imagination and an inclination to buy into current conspiracy theory proposals.
