I got the rand mc 720. The wifi features need some work, but they are there. weather kinda works, sometimes. Depending on internet speed and zoom level, it can get very laggy. As for fuel prices, they are offten not up to date. If you ask it to search on your route and only select oiliot/flying j....it will find the closest one and then will sit there not finding any more.

I've tried the 720 RM and yes, the internet feature to connect to truck wifi is weak at best. If you want updated and current wx, use your smartphone and it's various web sites and apps and don't put too much stock in the wx provided by the 720 and it's on/off wx features when/if it can connect via wifi hotspot the may or may not be available in the truck at the time.

Maybe not exactly what your looking for but the Garmin Streetpilot 7200 has XM built in and shows current weather/temps/warnings/traffic on route/delay time, on a map.. Its not a radar view..Its all info from xm no data usage, but you must be a subscriber of course....Its also not a truck specific GPS but ive been using the same 1 for the last 6 years and its done me right...Its like 5$ a month for a traffic and weather sub.

Never use a non trucking gps in a truck. That's how you end up like this:

This was posted in the support thread. It would be nice to limit your post to one thread. You asked for my help, I am working on this.
I am in NC and I routed to JAX. I picked only the PFJ sites and diesel only. On route it is still finding PFJ TS's in SC. Please refer to my latest in regards to your issue on the other thread.

The 720 connects via Hotspot to your Mi-Fi or Phone Hotspot. If you are not in a 3g or 4g area you may experience issues with picking up internet. This is not a fault of the 520 or 720.

It happened because the guys a ####### no other reason.

I beg to disagree. The wifi radio in the 720 is weak and flakey at best is what I'm trying to say. Doesn't make any difference how good or bad the hotspot connection is in the truck, the 720 will drop connection in an instant if it feels so inclined and will refuse to reconnect until you force it to (restart the wifi engine)Richter Thanks this.

When the connection dropped what was your Hotspot showing? Were you in a 3G or 4G area? How was your signal strength?
I have run the 520/720 in both the house and in the car with no issues. I have testers that run OTR in both the US and Canada with no drops.
You might have other electronics interfering with this. Do you run a dash Cam?
Thanks,

Your responce in the other thread was
That means, for now, its not fixed. I'm glad your working on it, but for now its not. I had the same problem on my old 720 that was stolen, so its not just my unit. This user is asking about what GPS to buy...to answer his question, I'm going to report my negative experience with the rand mc wifi. I was not askign for tech support in this thread. As mentioned in the other thread, it seems to pull the price data ok once it find locations, but its failing to find locations farther then about 100 miles and sometimes will only find locations 3 or 4 miles away.
Also to add to the negitive rand mc wifi, the prices are sometimes wrong. I bought fuel in Jefferson TN today at the piliot. Rand mc said price was 3.80 which is why i stopped. Turned out it was 3.86 for cash or 3.91 for credit. I assume randmc displays cash price, but it was still 6 cents off.
