Hi Dan! Most of us are still here, but a lot of us post over on the Facebook groups now. Things have been fairly steadily slower in the winter months as they usually are for skateboards, but I have kept moving pretty well. This winter has been brutal! Same benefits package as always for the company drivers. Glad to hear you are still out there and doing well. Myself, I finally got off that stupid dedicated account that I was on for two years thank God! I have been back on the RAT board since December, and it has been good to me. Take care friend!

Here's some b.s. for the thread. If you haven't heard, maverick is having issues with kingpin slack due to rusting of the coupling plate on their 2006 and 2007 trailers. Last week, I stopped by Madison to have a few things checked out on my way to kc, ks. The trailer I was hooked to was 26241e. I always check the kingpin for slack before hooking onto a trailer by grabbing it and trying to move it side to side but was informed at Madison on 06 and 07 trailers to also try to bang it upwards. Ok cool. Good to know. So Madison recommends the trailer not be reloaded after I empty out in kc. Cool. Du back to Madison after empty and hook onto 26085e. It had obviously been checked and cleared to be in service. Cool. Load railroad equipment for Cherokee, al then bagged sand to del at north American stainless, Ghent, ky. Friday am. No hard preplan but sending macro for preplan routing shows me picking up somewhere near Ghent, 2 stopper going to the northern suburbs of Chicago. Deliver the sand and work assignment is for preloaded trailer 27115e. Check the kingpin for movement, solid. Try to bang it upwards, doesn't move. Hook onto it and check the lights. 2 marker lights not working. Have the road assist guy fix those while I'm securing and tarping. Load is fully secured and 1/2 Tarped when road assist guy comes over and says someone told him to check the kingpin/ coupling plate. So unhook from it and he says that although the kingpin is not moving, a lot of rusty water is coming out of the area of the coupling plate. It's 1130 eastern when the decision is finalized to have the load reloaded onto a different trailer. So untarp, unsecure, and move equipment back to the trailer I hauled in and wait for them to come get the trailer to reload it. At 1230, check with the preload office and no one has informed them of any preloads having to be reloaded. Grrrrrrrrr. So wait for them to be told to reload it and resecue the trailer so it can be taken to long products for reloading. It gets reloaded onto the trailer I brought in, and back across the street to reresecure and reretarp and get bills. Finished it quickly because of all the practice I had doing it that day. Lol. Send the macro 19 for the trailer lights I had fixed on 27115e when I got there and finally rolled out of there 9.5 hours approx after I got the work assignment. Yes all things happen for a reason and while waiting, I did get a chance to paperlog the Thursday and friday but wow. B.s. done with my story. Be safe and have a good week.

Glad we arent dealing with any kingpin issues like that. That would most definitely be a pia.
Im on a dedicated run out of Springfield now. It may be just temporary. Customer might put a couple of us on until they slow down for winter. Easy loads and great money. Im netting about $2k after expenses so definitely cannot complain! :)
On a note of justice,a cb rambo in Enid,Ok got fined $12k by the FCC after two warnings for intereferring with cb radio communication (read hogging the airwaves with power to keep others off). This guy was literally taping his mic key down when he wasnt home to keep the airwaves clogged up! What an a hole. Be nice to see some others see this same kind of justice!

I know what you mean it is hard sometimes to get directions because of the people who just don't care. Around Roanoke Va. used to be a preacher get on the cb and preach and just would not stop talking. He is running a linear and just goes on for about 5 minutes and then he will stop for about long enough to get a breath and go back again. I asked him to stop one time so someone could get directions or something to that effect and he told me I was going to hell. Wish the fcc would catch several of them.

Beautiful morning at mittal burns harbor. No train across the tracks at the entrance, not a long wait to back in 6076. Even the lady at the check in was asking drivers to pull out after putting a couple chains through the coils. Only one driver failed to comply, not a maverick, but did hold up one of the bays while he put every last bungee on his/her tarp before leaving. Guess his time was more important than anyone's in the line out to the road outside. Lol

Was waiting for orientation date and then the Dear John letters arrived! Wasn't meant to be so on to my next option. Appreciated following the threads and the pm's from Sarge and Jxu. Decided to take care of family issues since lost 2 within a year before starting journey and recruiting said sure we can still get you onboard. Rather than start and then leave but either way another veteran that Hireright turned away!
