Well, as many of you know, those of is with the Datastar have a slight issue with the odometer once we hit 999,999 miles.

Im at 951,600 as of right now and wondering if anyone has yet to try to add either a WS factory style speedo that has the odometer in it, or an aftermarket odometer for it?? I need to keep track of current mileage and besides adding a hubometer, I'm pretty much lost for ideas.

I'd also like to hear some ideas. We have two trucks that will be approaching this issue soon enough.

I know someone who I think just uses their gps but I'd like more of a permanent fix especially with drivers in them.

I know of a few places that now make a speedometer that runs off a GPS. It's designed for hot rods, but would work for this application. I'm going to do some more investigating and I'll let ya know what I come up with.

Doesn't this roll over to zero once you hit a million miles? Or am I missing something?

    crb Thanks this.

The datastar just stops reading at 999,999. I just switched over to one of the trip meters in the datastar. It works for now but a better system sure would be nice!!

Thanks Bill, I understand what the problem is now, I have another question - is this just the dash unit or is it also the speedo?

The real fix is to get a shop to just reset your ECM to 0. The DataStar just reads off the ECM.

The ones that have an odometer in the speedo do flip over and start at 000000

You're right. The trucks with both odo speedos and datastars start back at zero after 999,999 but data star only trucks do not. Seems to be kinda backwards to me lol.

You can't take the mileage off the ecm. Only way to do that is to "wash" it which means your starting off with a blank ecm with nothing. Some ecms don't even have that capability. I'd like to know if a odo speedo can be put on these and work easily. I do have a spare truck with one.... May just have to try it sometime soon.

Anyone know what the speedos with the odo for the multiplex systems are worth?
