Thought about moving, but don't want to disrupt my kids education, by taking them out of school, and moving them to a different school. My parents did that to me many many years ago, and I couldn't adjust to the new school.

I was also let go and I asked for the option to move. They replayed with a quick "no". They are not interested in keeping any of the ones laid off.mje Thanks this.

mje and Milkman719 Thank this. -
I was told that it was just a rumor of lay offs. how can a starter company lay off good drivers? I wonder if they just want the lower pay scale divers and a few trainers. I liked working for JBS when I first started I had a good trainer. I expected the worst and Im happy to say it wasn't to bad.

It's not a starter company. It's a company who hires rookies. Most of the people are experienced. They would give crap pay and hire tons of students if it was a starter company. It's a private carrier for JBS. In business they call it reconstruction. If something is not working you make changes to try to fix it. If they have to dead head people hundreds of miles to go home then dead head them hundreds of miles to get a reload. It's costing the company money. So yes having drivers on the normal routes you run is more profitable then having people who live out in the boonies and you don't get runs out there. I'm not even on home time but I was able to spend over 24 hrs at the house this week and last week. Home time is next week for me. So it pays to live in a decent area in which your company operates. Time for me to roll. C ya!!!!

By chance, would you know if Wichita KS is on the normal route or in the regular freight lane? The 2 main highways going through Wichita KS would be Highway 54 east and west and Interstate 35 north and south.

Educated Guess:
Dinomite's age is at least 32 to 35. His profile states that he has been a trucker for 14 years. An individual can get a CDL when they are age 18 for intrastate driving, age 21 for interstate driving.

I'm 38. The profile doesn't update your driving years so I'm closer to 16 years now. Been driving since 21. I'm not sure about Wichita. You would have to call, but we do have loads coming from Grand Island Going to Texas, and Loads out of Cactus going to the East Coast, but I haven't delivered in Wichita with this company in the almost 4 years I've been here. So because of that might not be in the hiring area. But you can always call and check.

I think Wichita is on their cut list. I live in Kansas and was told a buddy of mine in SE Kansas was also cut. I was told if I was 150 from a plant, I could stay. Looking for a job, I'm seeing that they are in full recruiting mode for AZ, UT, SoCal and CO right now, they are not done with with the layoffs.mje Thanks this.
