Anyone know anything about this company and specifically the Levelland TX yard? It looks like a reasonably central location for work, from what I've read, and the company has a lot of locations if work slows in one yard.
Secondarily, how is the Lubbock/Amarillo/general area for living conditions? Housing, schools etc...
Occidental in Levelland TX

Working for a major oil company with all there benefits seems like the best way to go. The lubbock area is great if you dont mind windy days. Lots of restaurants and Texas Tech has 30000 students. Levelland isn't all that great but they do have a nice Junior college called South Plains and it is all oil field there and cotton. Not much else. I really love Lubbock but then I was born there.

Looking at a map Lubbock/Amarillo doesn't look like a huge metro area like DFW or Houston. With 2 middle schoolers I like that.
That area looks like a good stepping off area to follow the work in Midland/Odessa/OK even NM and other areas.Last edited: Mar 9, 2014

Amarillo is great for housing prices and a down to earth group of people. The food prices are a bit higher then most places; and the tap water? Well lets just say; get a filter and I highly recommend Rayne Water for the filtration system. I already miss the simple living that was there; now I'm back in the Hustle and Bustle of the Big City; Bright lights and Pretty ladys
...
Really; though the area is good if your looking for a great group of people. I never once had any problems and every one is friendly and waves; I just couldn't take the Tornadoes in the area and had to get the hell out of dodge. If it weren't for that I would stayed in the area. Had great schools for kids and stuff. -
Amarillo is about 130 miles from Levelland and about 100 miles from Lubbock up I 27

Rofl...yeah that is pretty close to tornado city. I just don't want to bring my kids into the middle of nowhere, into a boom town or huge metroplex.
I've said in other threads I'm looking to permanently relocate out of the NE. This whole corner of the country can hang on my zipper. -
College town. College wages. I will never go back to lbk. Seminole or even andrews would be better. Imo
