Xtreme 2018 is perfect for when you want some echo to piss off everyone else on the radio and make them not want to talk to you, yet can't figure out how to even turn on the solder iron much less figure out what screws open the radio case. LOL

BTW I like the Astatic 575-M6 mic.....good luck gettong one w/o paying close to $100 for it....but you'll find they trump all other mics out there, to include the RK56, the Astatic 636 or the Skythumper ST 65 DX.

any brand of noise cancelling mic would be an upgrade, astatic being the mic i prefer.there is not a need to ever buy an amplification microphone. get a good radio tune at about the same time and wear yourself out giving and getting bear reports! we will appreciate it-

Astatic 636L is really good, I'm currently driving and old 94 frightliner and you know those old trucks are loud, anyways, I get compliments on my audio, " Loud and clear". The power mic's are pointless if you have a well tuned radio.

I think that the power mics are more of a toy if anything. I looked up the 2018 and plan on getting one simply for the novelty of it. But like it has been pointed out if you have a shop that can put a good peak and tune then there is no need for a power mic.

Here is a mic comparison a guy did on youtube to give you an idea what the different mics may sound like. YMMV

Just got an Astatic 636L SE (Silver Edition) and love it. It sounds great and looks cool....has the chrome coated mic cord and chrome mic screen. Love it....

I don't know why but I have at least 4 different mics in my truck right now. One of em is the astatic 636 silver edition. Its a good mic. Then I have a ranger sra198 and the one I am running right now is the astatic 636 stars and stripes. I have a few junk mics as back ups for my backups.

I just bought the Ranger for my 29LTD and people seem to hear an improvement in my audio.

Probably any of those ones mentioned here are better than the stock mic's. I too have now 4 mic's in the truck!! Must be some kind of 'thing' with us CB'ers!!

I must agree on the Ranger SRA198. I've been loyal to Astatic for 10 years, but recently wanted to have my mic face me rather than away from me, when using my Gear Keeper.

The Ranger has a mic hanger thingamajigger on it so I bought it. It's definitely my new fav. Better sound, better cord, fits in hand better than the Astatic 636.
