I thought the same thing about the drivers on top of the pay scale. Every driver I knew about was at the top. The only thing is, this is not the first time JBS has done this. SE regional drivers were all laid off a year ago or so. I guess it's just easier to fire drivers then for the operations staff to figure out how to do their job.

Wonder how the unemployment system works across states ,do they file from home state or company state?
mje Thanks this. -
Most likely, the unemployment system would work from the individual truck drivers home state, as would their individual state income taxes.
-
With the many truck drivers being laid off from their jobs, did JBS Carriers give any of them the option of relocating to Arizona, Utah, Southern California, Colorado or to an area that is within 150 miles from one of their meat packing or processing plants??
I suspect that many of the laid off truck drivers would have been more than happy to relocate to any one of the 4 recruiting areas that JBS Carriers is recruiting new drivers from, in addition to relocating to an area within 150 miles from one of their meat packing or processing plants. -
I am collecting unemployment. To collect, you apply in Colorado because that is where you were employed out of. You have to do it online, don't bother trying to call. It's not bad, $480 a week. Personally, if you add in home time your not taking, I'm making the same on unemployment as I did with JBS because the miles were so bad.
-
I asked if I could move when the told me I was being laid off. They said "no, a decision has need made".
-
Personally, over the last year, JBS turned into the worst company I had ever worked for and I'm glad this happened. If you have been laid off already, file for unemployment in Colorado ASAP, take a couple weeks off and get another gig, they are out there. If your still working at JBS, start preparing yourself, they have only started with the layoffs.

I just find it hilarious that such a bad company will have someone wanting to relocate to keep their 500 dollar a week gig. Man that's some funny stuff right there.

I knew a boilermaker that traveled job to job. When he got laid off in MI he filed for unemployment in PA because they paid the most. He lived here in TN. There is some law about working in multiple states that allows that. I'm not familiar with it but it might be worth looking into for some that has worked for multiple companies. It's some kind of Interstate Claim.
But $480 doesn't sound bad. It's $200 something here in TN. I believe my friend drew up in the $500 range out of PA. -
You crack me up Donomite, is there a reason your always trying to make people look bad on here?
you should stop and ask yourself, "could there be a reason this guy would move to keep a job he doesn't like?" The answer to that would be yes, there was a reason. With no warning, your called in and told you don't have a job. To a person that has always worked, first response is "how do I keep working?" Is there a reason that person would offer to move? In my case, yes. The reason, I have been planning on moving back west for over a year now and still plan on it so moving then, obtaining a new job was the logical choice.
I have never collected unemployment before and had no idea if I could have survived on that. Now, that I am collecting and have gone through the process, it worked out better then if I had moved unprepared.
Is this all satisfactory to you?
with this said, please stop attacking people on matters that you know nothing about. You are not in someone else's shoes and have no idea what or how someone is thinking about their own situation.
