Ok I decided to get back in a big truck. I liked Averitts's image policy, so I went ahead and applied. I believe a first impression is a lasting impression. I get real tired of going to a truck stop and seeing a driver pumping fuel in a pair of gym shorts lyyooking like the just crawled out of a dumpster.Averitt wants you in uniform from the second day of orientation. I also like the fact you have options herd to. I hired on for the Diamond Chrystal account, I will make .35 a mile starting out and $15 extra stop pay..It took them 5 days to extend me a conditional job offer. They had all my background checks done by then. I was given the choice of riding the dog or driving up to orientation. I chose to drive up. I will be compensated $225 for 3 days of orientation and $235 for travel expenses.
Orrientation is in Cookesville TN,,I left my. House in Savannah GA at 7:30 AM EST and got to Cookesville at 1::30 central time. I checked into the hotel got got to my room and the phone rang. I was ggoing to ignore it but decided to answer it. It was the road testepr from Averitt wanting to know if I wanted to come road test. I did the math and it was a no brainer. I could do it yesterday with little or no traffic or wait till today I opted for door number 1 and went ahead and road tested. Road test consisted of clibming in the back of the trailer, a pre trip inspection, a very simple backing maanuver and a 21 mile road test. Nothing difficult.
Today we gathered in the lobby of the motel at 6:30AM and were split into 2 groups. My group did the medical, work assesmernt and drug screening first, while the other group did the computer based training. Then inthe afternoon we flipped flopped. Since I. Had already done my road test the day before I was done at 1PM. We were even issued uniforms

I live in cookeville,tn where averitt is headquartered. I gave them a try once and it was the worst 2 months of my driving career. How many in orientation? 30 to 40 i bet. When companies have weekly orientations of this size :30 to 50 weekly: it should be a warning.
This is another big box revolving door company with an enormous turnover rate. They will deny it,they all do. I hated that i had to spend $300.00 on uniforms before i could start and only got around 1800 miles a week.
I hope you do better but i cant tell you how many drivers in my area have had similar experiences with them.
Good luck. -

Since we had 2 groups they had courtesy cars, the first group went to the training center and the second group went to the health clinic. Tomorrow they will shuttle folks that don't have their cars here.

But, I guess when you have the 'image is everything' mindset you may fit in there and do really well.Chinatown, truckinmike1984 and tow614 Thank this. -
CA-NV-AZ-NM, Dinomite and Chinatown Thank this.

Averitt, First Fleet, First Express all connected companies. First Express probably the best of the three; the other two I wouldn't even consider.
One red flag is when a company dresses you. I personally know how to dress properly for the job and look clean cut and don't need a nanny.tow614 and flyingmusician Thank this. -
I am sorry it didn't work out for you all. Hopefully it will work out better for me. I receive a pension so I think I can hang in there a little bit longer atleast until I serve out my indentured servitude agreement for the uniforms.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
