Why do companies insist you go to specific clinics, which are sometimes 150 miles away. Is this the insurance companies doing this??

my guess is everyone is covering there butts in case of a law suit.

You mean drive 150 miles then go back home?Ive always had physicals where I live or during orientation.

My guess is that they have met with the clinic on pricing and procedures they want done. In addition, they may have been influenced by their insurance coverage.

Well I have been leased to this carrier for a year, and my last physical I took for them was 5 miles from my house. This year the clinic they want me to go to is 135 miles from my house (that's close enough to 150). Both clinics are run by the same company. Just don't make sense

My guess is somebody in the office is probably not familiar with the difference between 5 miles and 150 miles. Not everybody in the industry understands complicated mathematical equations that involve distance. Probably also haven't had specialized training in faxing the forms to the lab that is close to you rather than the one that is on the speed dial on the fax machine. I have had this happen before, but have always been pretty lucky to have cooperative people on the other end make arrangements to send me to the closet lab. Unfortunately that lab is Concentra, they could be considered the bottom feeders of the medical industry. Think of CRST , USxpress, or western express medical service. I would drive 150 miles to get a dot physical if it meant I didn't have to go to Concentra, hell I wouldn't send an inmate on his way to an execution chamber to a Concentra.
