Could be I think over the years I've heard of just about any fuel source going into a diesel motor.
What are some repairs and upgrades that can improve mpg?

yes.......
vangtransport and Cetane+ Thank this. -
I have run propane. Propane needs to be about half the price of diesel to brake even.
www.ecodieselinjection.com kit is what I have, it is the best kit I could find.
propane will not hurt your motor if done right, useing cheap mechanical demand reglator kits off ebay is a disaster waiting to happen.
propane is a gas, it accelerates the ignition of the diesel in the combustion chamber thus makeing a more efficient burn, helps clean up your emissions, makes more power, and adds about one mpg in my case in my c15.
now for the bad news it don't make enough to be worth the hassel, I would not recomend it unless you are a green freakCetane+ Thanks this. -
I remember a bull hauler trying to sell me a kit, he said 150 to 200hp increase and 12 to 15mpg, I laughed..............

I want to try the propane injection when I can find an affordable system of any quaility. I beleive it could be worth the difference in mpg. like 1-2 mpg increase, using a 20-30lb tank in 1500-2000 miles.
Propane costing $25 per tank refill,
Before propane in 2000 miles at 7.0mpg, $3.75 per gallon = $1071.42
After propane in 2000 miles at 8.0 mpg, diesel $937.5+ $25 = $962.50 $108.92 saving per week
If it increases 2 mpg would be over $200+ per week savings.
Now to find a quality kit at an affordable price. -
I talked with an old guy out in CA awhile back, he had a propane system on his truck. He said that he only turns it on when he is in CA, said it makes really good power, and will make his Cat burn 2 points cleaner than what it did new from the factory. He got his from some place in OK I believe, but I can't remember what the name of the company is.

When figureing the price of propane you need to remember to give the Fed's there cut.
Propane does not include road tax on it, so you have to file a secound forum with your ifta quarter paying the road use tax at that point it started costing me money not saving money and I quit useing it, I will be happy to sell you everything for $1,500.00 if you still think you can make it pay.
also I don't recomend a kit that draws vapor from your tank as one of my friends has a kit like that and over fill his tank and it got a hit of liquid and whent wild, it started hammering that hard it broke injector hold down bolt.toss009 Thanks this. -
Please PM me with all your including for $1500. As I am very interested. But rather not hijack the thread.
