So here i sit in maryland I deliver to Philly and Exton Pa in the morning.I dont like being on the east coast it is very crowded up here and everyone seems so angry but the wheather is pretty warm.

I have been keeping track off my fuel milage since they have been leaning on us about it.I was doing real good (7.2) til I hit the mountains(5.8).

I have to be back in in Little Rock by monday for a dr appt so we will see if they get me there.I picked this load up in Pine Bluff Ar about 4 pm a 1200 mile run it had a due date of today (wen.) at 2 pm but I didnt make that. After I got to thinking about it there wasnt enough hours to do that.if you take the fact it is a twenty hour drive at sixty miles an hour add in twenty hours for two ten hour breaks you are looking at 40 hours and that doesnt include time for 6 load checks ,weigh stations crawling up mountains and 3 fuel stops yet alone the normal things like food and restrooms so you realy need good time managment skills an art I haven't matered yet.So will post more later Yall be safe

Hey Daytona... been reading your thread and I want to say that you're quite a persevering character. I try to warn people what life on the road is really like, but they always think it's gonna be "different" or better for them. Then, when they hit a little adversity, they bail out.....not going through half of what you did. Driving is tough enough, but it's tougher when you have to deal with the BS from the company too.

So here I sit it is sarurday noon I am on the westbound exit 7 ramp of I68 with a flat trailer tire again. I sent in the breakdown macro to fleetnet and now I am just watching the minutes turn to hours I am still 873 miles from the house.Such is my life.

It is weird I was just driving along coming down the mountain a 5% grade after their mandatory stop and boom that was all she wrote and that tire would go no further. This is my fourth flat tire all 3 have been trailer tires and 1 was a steer tire the night I fell.I do my pretrip reliougsly and I thump the tires every morning so I dont understand why I get so many flat tires of course the way we swap trailers you are always getting new one every couple weeks.

When I was going through maryland this morning I had the D.O.T. pull in behind me and follow me for 7 or 8 miles I had no idea what he was doing I guess waiting for a car to go whizzing by me cause I sure cant speed in this thing. It sure does make you nervous when they do that I start think did I secure this load right what the heck is he looking at.

Aubrey Allen Smith yeah I am pretty perssistent person it is hard to beat me down but I give them credit they keep trying. I think it is in our nature to beleive we can do this even when we read all the horror stories out there .I relate it to a stuck lock that every one tries to open and cant but you know if you just persist at it your way you will get it when others cant it is just human nature.Guess I will close and sit here and wait yall be safe and I will try to be as well

... You ready to swap companies yet? Or have you considered that already? I have really enjoyed reading your post! I am starting/restarting my trucking career tomorrow morning with a load to Dallas. So far I am extremely pleased with USF GM but like you, I will know more reliable info at the end of this week. Orientation was great for me, we only had seven people there. Next group was only three people. So far the people seem to really care and I hope that continues!

Boy I understand that one. We went home for a week and were suppose to be out of the house last Saturday by noon. We didn't actually get out till Monday evening and ran 3 solo runs back to back with just over 3000 miles for the week. We are currently sitting here in Amarillo, TX with a load that doesnt deliver until Monday at 3:00 pm. And you guessed it, the company is ######## about our idle times, our batteries only last about 1 1/2 hours before we have to start the truck to charge the batteries and the company wont pay for Idleaire or a hotel. I am so aggrevated this week!!!!!!

1 1/2 hours on batteries? That sounds really short, like either the batteries are bad, something is wrong with the charging system, or something is placing a heavy drain on them. How long do they usually last in a typical tractor?

Morrisgray I have not considered changing company's yet because I don't want to be a job jumping baby.I will say I do not see a long term future with maverick it just has to many flaws. That said I have been told maverick is one of the better companies out there if that is true I feel truly sorry for anybody driving for other companies.I have no idea what my future hold but it probably will not be as a company driver.K&J I feel your pain I get about an hour out of my batteries sometimes less then I have to start the truck.I am headed to Alveredo Texas once my truck is out of the shop. I didn't get a restart this week so now I will have to watch my hours just another aggravating thing.:iroc:
