Well I am sitting around bored as my other half is going through the rigors of orientation. So far she has passed the road test, the physical tests (duck walk, etc), and her BP is fine. Now she is waiting to pee in a cup and finish the DOT physical. So far three people have been sent home. One for failing the duck walk and two for failing to report violations on their license.
In the meantime I have been trying to get ahold of my training coordinator, but she is not returning calls. -
She your wife ?
-
No, my girlfriend. I don't have a wife.
-
Very nice
Waiting on a load wont be so bad now lol -
Yep....turning a corner in my career where I won't be freaking out because I have to wait a couple hours. Of course, this means I will probably never have to wait on a load ever again, or even get a 34 now.TruckDuo Thanks this.

Vinsanity, what exactly are the physical tests required? I had never heard of the "duck walk" until just now. Thanks!
-
The duck walk is crouching while walking under a rope stretched out about 48" (if I remember correctly) from the ground for a length of around 8 feet. That simulates ducking under a trailer to check that you are securely hooked to the trailer. They also do something to simulate getting up into a trailer. Another test involves carrying a box full of weights (45#) a specified distance, then placing it on a shelf at shoulder height. Lastly, you do a push test, in which you push an object against the wall and it measures how much force you use.
They are all easy enough to pass if you are in average shape and not too clumsy. -
I believe 9 ot of 27 have been sent home for various reasons. She has passed everything and all her history is verified. Nobody has been officially hired yet. She heard the drug test results were sent out late and they are waiting on results.
In the meantime I am sitting at the J in Indy because my shipper wasn't open when I got there. It's a late dispatch.
If everything falls into place I should be able to pick her up on my way to Allentown.TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Well I am officially no longer a trainer. Elly upgrade yesterday here in Springfield. We are officially a team now!
Her first she drove 59.75 hours and 3216 miles. The highlight of the week was running into a bad snowatoem on her very first shift driving through Virginia.
Second week was 44.25 hours for 2194 miles. That included a restart and running team the second half of the week.
Third week was 50 hours for 2750 miles. Ran mostly team.
This week was 18.25 for 964 miles. We got to the hotel on Tuesday. Had some horrible food there. Got over to the terminal around 11:00 on Wednsday. She was upgraded by 4 pm.
Now I have a new fm. Hope he is as good as my old one.
