I see that Collin county community college has a program in Farmersville that takes 4 weeks to complete but their next class is in November. I was hoping to get started sooner than that.
The other names I keep seeing are c1 training and TDI. Neither of which seem to have very good reviews.
Do any of you have experience with any schools in the metroplex?
*forgot to mention I want to avoid company sponsored training
Whats the best school in the DFW area?

TDI has a good reputation in other states, not sure about Texas.
If you have an idea about trucking companies you're interested in, give them a call and ask which school they recruit from or recognize.
Here's some good high paying trucking jobs to check:
Melton Truck Lines
Trimac
Superior Carriers
Schneider Bulk
CTL Transportation

If you change your mind about company sponsored training, Millis Transfer in Burleson is about the best and the drivers make about $50K. You will make much more than that with tankers though.

Thanks guys. I read a few more reviews about TDI on this site and it seems to be a good choice, albeit a little more costly. I'm going to give them a phone call tomorrow.
I'm trying to stay away from company sponsored training because of my father's horror story (probably a little exaggerated, but I still don't want to be locked in at a company for x amount of time). I'm also avoiding company training because I want to bring my dog along once I have completed my time with a trainer. I figure it would be safer for me to get a CDL and then start applying for pet friendly companies. -
CTL has a pet policy; not sure about the others on that list. Give the ones you're interested in a call.

Im headed to TDI in Dallas around the end of the month. From what I read they are a good school!

Were at MT Training center in Grand Prairie, they're more of a fast paced school and work on payment plans with you. Also accept people from the work force commission (we paid out of pocket though). I don't know what town you live in.
