I notice that you are NOT a driver. your idea is not feasible,is not doable,is not practical, and will not be implemented.I suppose to pay for your idea, more taxes would be levied and you would be at the front of the line to pay more than the actual amount of new taxes, just imposed on you to pay for the retrofitting at the truck stops, simply because you are entrenched with the idea that more government intrusion equates a better life for the rest of us.
Those of us,for the most part, that do not live in california find your state and it's green laws a joke.I also found humor is your post.thanks.
Since when did firewood become more expensive than natural gas and electricity? OH,that is maybe only in urban areas of california. It is certainly not the case here in Alabama hence the reason the majority of the rest of our nation cares not for what california thinks and does to its citizens.you choose to live there.suffering the consequences is part of that decision therefore there is not a need to push your agenda on the rest of us.
and for what it is worth,I am betting that 98% of Americans care less what Europe is considering, has done,or will do.The United States is not Europe.Europe is not the United States. lastly, how has all those european ideas seemed to work out for europe? I'll anxiously await your reply.

Lot of really bad drivers now a days! But I guess that's everywhere

You know it is not just a California thing, most states are implementing no-idle policies, especially near large ports. A trucker can save over $3000/year in fuel costs if plugged into an electrical outlet, and truck stops can earn money at $1/hour, so its kind or a win-win --- no need for new taxes. So, would you rather sit in your truck and freeze, or would you rather hook up to an electrical outlet? KOA can provide electrical power, I think truck stops can figure it out.
And as far as firewood goes, yes it is the most expensive way to heat for most urban dwellers, it's not like you can go to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and cut all the trees down for free and then stack the wood on the porch of your Condominium. In fact people that burn in fireplaces in California can actually have a negative heating effect as the chimney draws the air out of the room. Why is it so hard to understand for some people, that with 16 million people in the Greater Los Angeles Area, you really need to limit fire places burning and it would be better (especially around the large ports) to have trucks plugged into electrical power than to sit idling all night long. -
Hmmm....IIRC....All of those ChiCom ships are still burning Bunker Fuel...Nasty stuff....But cheap...
But by God...CARB is gonna make all of the trucks run "cleaner than whistle"...
-
as I understand it they can't burn bunker fuel until they are so many miles out in the ocean

I think that it would be worth the cost of admission to watch some of these drivers today try to navigate around electric hook up post. A lot of them can't even park straight let alone put it in a parking spot without hitting electric post on both sides.
Joetro Thanks this. -
Yeah right....But the on shore winds bring the smoke right back into LA.....

I think those electric outlets are gonna need to be impact resistant . But I am in favor of truck stop electrification. I think that would be one of the most practical solutions to reduce emissions at the truckstops. If most truckstops had electric outlets, I might install a roof mounted a/c unit. And get a space heater.

Name those "most" states highlighted please?
Please reference or cite a source for your save $3000 vs $1 an hour electrical hook up that would apply to commercial trucks?
We are not campers & so KOA points are not much needed.
I cannot verify post #19. But since you know all of this, figured you would be able to detail it out for us.Joetro Thanks this. -
Maricopa County(Phoenix) and some parts of Texas that I know of.
