well, I am all for this, but just hoping that tomorrow, enough of you park , my dh is a company driver, he can't park, he would loose his job. you all be careful out there. and I hope this makes a difference.

 

I pray for everyone and that everything will be accomplish like we all hope for.

Lets stand together on this and lets not back down until something gets done.

 

should've added to my prior post. I'd burn it right here in the yard where it's been since Friday and will remain till I can go back to work with the expectation of making honest money. Meeting in Savannah GA tonight #6opm for intermodal(container) O/O's and drivers. Ask anyone at the port the particulars. Mostly about the port problems and the companies we work for but there will be attorneys there and I'm quite sure the shutdown will be a BIG topic Georgia trucks were already planning on shutting down on April 3rd. So don't get upset if you see some of our folks on the 1st and 2nd.

 

Does anyone remember the refinery blockades of the late 70-81 period?? I do not remember the year but did participate in the blockade of the Shell refinery in Irving, TX for 3 days. I belive that is when the Fed invented the fuel surcharge. (could be wrong on that) but we were still under ICC reg/rates/tarriffs and the surcharge was made across the board every shipper/carrier and load were subject to the same surcharge. I am parked since Friday and will stay parked till someone with some sense comes up with a solution. Raising rates will only add to an already overinflated economy. Don't know if the FED even has the power to cap the price of fuel. Each segment of the industry has it's own set of problems but fuel is one I think we all pretty much agree on. The problems spread among the different trucking factions have in a lot of cases been planned to keep such a thing as we are now facing from ever happening. Some of it just goes with the territory but with costs around .80cents per mile what does that leave? Anxiously awaiting tommorrow to see how many of you really do what you've said you would and pull the key!!

Now if you guys and gals out there do this, in 24 hours, the nation would be shut down . Probably in 8 hours, if the guys that are going to park just stop on the highways, you would have this nation bottled up, and right now. but the law would be there also, and you would probably all go to jail but then again maybe not, it only takes a couple of trucks, on in each lane to stop the traffic, on a highway. so think about it.
