I will have my truck paid for by mid july, or sooner if I can find financing to move sooner.
I am doing my homework as to where the best place for me to put my truck, soon as it's paid I'm out of where I am at now.
Here is what I was thinking
1)landstar (but need hazmat)
2)roadone
3)roadway
4)mercer
5)Melton
Looking to do dry van any thoughts as each has pro's and con's. Just looking for the best rates.

Maybe I wasn't clear my truck will be paid off by mid july 2014. Looking for a new company to move my truck to. Since I am going to be title holder and don't have own authority that I will need to lease it on with a new company. Does this help

I was just being a smarta$$.Congratulations if you complete your lease, you certainly beat the odds.
Lowa3468 Thanks this. -
Well made it this far family willing to live out of the back of a p/u if needed. Only 4 months to go been starving since jan. But I'm not about to just hand it back.
Like I said there's a number of companies to choose from and like the option of being able to use a load board kinda why I am leaning towards landstar. Figure other oo would have a better idea and experience on this subject.
It takes about 30 days I am thinking from start of process to move that leaves me 3 months to make a decision. -
You are doing it the right way.I am a firm believer that a company constantly running ads for drivers is having a retention problem.I have worked out of only 4 barns in my 30 years of trucking and never saw and ad for hiring by any of them.Word of mouth is all a good company needs.

Load board at Mercer also to choose your own loads.
Only difference is at Mercer you have a coodinator to help watch the load board and take care of calls to get the loads.
Landstar is bigger, so has larger freight base but also more trucks to compete with so probably same percentage.
Mercer is begging for O/O with calif. compliant trucks but Landstar probably is also. -
Landstar was 65% of load 100% fuel surcharge and no rental of trailers.
Does mercer rent trailers?
I have heard some companies charge just about for everything.
And cali compliant well don't fall under that category 2007 freight century s/t with c 15 accert cat engine 13 speed.
If you have your own list that helps too as these are ones been considering -
Do you have to have haz mat at landstar?
