Is this company really all that bad for experienced drivers? Is there anybody with this company who has stayed here long enough? I was offered a dry van job with them the other day. No my MVR isn't perfect, which is why I don't have alot of choices. My background is fine though. I only had a couple of months over 5 years ago. Thought I would talk to some drivers at the terminal or truckstops, but, I wanted to start here 1st. I understand you will have complaints with every company, not everybody is happy with the same and you can't please everyone. If you have a good work ethic, give 110% and do everything you can, can it work and you make money even if its just for a year or two to get experience? Everybody's experience is different.
What are the pro vs. cons? Please be completely honest.
When you have to team as part of your refresher, do they pair you with someone in your area or just put you with someone and you 2 figure out how home time will work out? What's the average miles for people who have a good work ethic and give 110% while they are out? Thanks in advance for your responses.
Is it really all that bad?

Where are their drop yards? I live in the chattanooga area and wondered where the closest on is.

In case you haven't already seen their DOT ratings at http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/sms/Data/Search.aspx
look at DOT# 511412 and take a careful look at those numbers... do you really want to work for a company like that? -
If you look up my post: there's no way I could have been more honest about the place...... They team you up with another refresher and the only thing that is guaranteed is that if you don't smoke- they put you with another nonsmoker....... As you go through the refresher (it's 3 days for van) if you network with other guys and you find someone ya like: you just tell them you want to team together.... If not they'll do it for you and smoking preference is the only criteria they use.
i don't feel like rehashing everything I said about them, but if you have any specific questions after reading all the threads/posts on western- be more than happy to try and answer them.....
whats on your MVR? (Not trying to be nosey, or judgemental but it helps in trying to give a person good advice) -
Nashville is the main yard, they have a helll hole....errrrrrrrrrr I mean a drop yard in Nazareth PA, and I heard of one in Alabama..........
also i wouldn't be going to western for money if I were you.... I'd be going there strictly for the "recent verifiable experience" -

It might take some time, but if it's something you really want to do and you're patient and able to handle lots of BS, it will probably work out for you. My first two years was less than pleasant, but then it started to get pretty good. Good luck with the process!
