Welcome Prosport. So tell me, do you pay into a driver's social security when you pay him/her on a 1099? Do you offer health insurance? Can a driver draw unemployment from you if they were wrongfully terminated?

Believe what you like, but don't make #### up -
You seem to be asserting that social security, and/or unemployment equates to legal leverage.
Aside from that assertion being factually incorrect, yes, you can, in fact, still draw unemployment when you are a 1099 contractor, because unemployment is paid by the employer, regardless of your taxable status.
Further, health insurance is not any indicator, as many jobs for which you are a W2 employee still do not offer health insurance.
As I said, you don't seem to be well informed about labor laws. -
ProSport isn't a Russian company
-
83 Driver and Vehicle OoS and they have 150 trucks. Straight from the horses mouth.

Which Eastern European country, then? I've seen the trucks and drivers, so don't try to make it something it isn't.
-
It is. Also as an employee you can also complain to the labor board for unpaid wages, don't think you can as a 1099 contractor.
BS. If you are a 1099 "contractor" you're technically self employed and can't draw. Why do you think these outfits have drivers sign bogus lease agreements? Because they are treating employees like contractors so they cover their rear.
Some if not most W-2 jobs offer health insurance but NO 1099 jobs offer it. -
I signed no lease agreement.
No, not BS. I've been a 1099 contractor many times in my life, and never been unable to collect unemployment as a result of said status, because being a 1099 employee doesn't negate your legal rights.
"Offer health insurance" is irrelevant when the insurance offered is 100% employee paid. I can get insurance myself as a 1099 contractor, or employee, same as a W2 employee. -
The trucks and drivers, meaning what?
The trucks are Internationals, Freightliners, Volvos, and Peterbilts.
I am one of their drivers.
What exactly are you getting at? -
Who did you draw on? I know it wasn't the company that 1099ed you because you WEREN'T an employee to begin with, so you had no legal right to unemployment.
First off there is no such legal status as a "1099 employee." If you are being paid on a 1099 you are considered a self employed individual at least according to the IRS. That would be like saying "I am a virgin who had sex."
Ok so you can get insurance on your own. I understand that but it's usually more expensive than an employer offered plan.
