Calexico, CA next to the Walmart.

Nice and warm today, near 90. Haven't had many days like that for quite some time.

    No pplan as yet.

    Alexandria, LA.

Swapping drivers at the target here. My co-driver is driving us back to the DC then he will start the next load. We will be running around the Houston area all night then a backhaul from Freeport, TX.

I'm not a fan of going to the Chiquita banana at the Freeport port. Since I don't have a TWIC card I have to wait for a security escort to become available who rides with us in the truck. The escort service charges like $75. I know I can just use a company advance and comm check but that's another minor inconvience. The shipping office in the port is no where near the docks and you have to wait an hour or two before they tell you to head to the docks. The forklift operators are actually very efficient and fast but no matter how quick they are it will not make up for all the other delays at the port. All in all it is usually a 3-4 hour ordeal and it only takes the warehouse 15 min to get you loaded, it's just the other stuff that slows you down.

Bananas? Isn't that refrigerated? Do you run a refer? Does it have Swift on the side or another name?

He runs Target Dedicated out of Denton Tx. They use Target reefers and deliver to the stores. It's one of the better accounts with Swift in this area.

Lady K and Broccelli Thank this.

Eagle, CO at the rest area (such as it is). Not complaining, just wish CO had some REAL rest areas between Denver& Grand Junction. It's a short walk to the 4-wheeler's rest area and another couple minutes to a C-store. Las Vegas tomorrow followed by a Tuesday delivery at noon in Shaffer, CA

And I should have saved my money and waited to wash my truck. Melting snow equals lots of water on the road and now my truck is filthy AGAIN! Oh well.

At least I got to see my daughter and my 2 grandchildren yesterday. Life is good! :)

Raphine, VA. What a mess on I-81 after Bristol. Cars were holding up traffic on the hills more than the trucks. The snow has started now and was sent a pplan. PU in Lynchburg, 11K and take to Frito Lay in Oak Park, IL. Declined due to weather, and was not wanting to chance I-64 over to Beckley and then I-77 and US-35 to Dayton. Was looking at the weather map, and this whole area is going to get nailed tonight and morning. Plus it was a plus-1, said del by 10 Tuesday morning with other instructions that must del by 0600 on due date. Do not touch those.

Before leave here in the morning, depending on how it looks outside, have to call the customer and see if I can even get to their place. Only 27 miles away, but it is up some hills and then side roads after getting off I-64

Dropped this morning in Ft Smith, AR (load from Laredo), picking up tonight in Hot Springs, AR and headed to Wagoner, OK. Raining off and on since last night with strong winds.

There are Swift reefers ... notably on the Costco account. There is also a Swift reefer fleet. I think Steve ran on it for a little while.

I'll agree not a lot of truck parking at the rest stops along that stretch of 70 ... but I do think Colorado was rather clever in using their federal highway dollars to make what essentially serves as parks for the towns along the route.

Hammond, deliver in NO in the AM, then a load up to Ft Worth.

    Lady K Thanks this.
